Phan Boi Chau (1867-1940) was a patriot, politician, and leader of the national liberation movement in the early 20th century. He holds an important position in the history of Vietnamese political thought in modern times. A century has passed since Phan Boi Chau initiated and led the struggle for national independence and freedom through specific activities such as: founding the Duy Tan Association (1904),Dong Du movement(1905), foundedVietnam Restoration Association(1912) and then the Vietnam Nationalist Party (1924)... It marked the beginning of the period of the birth of a political party in its modern sense. His thoughts and practical activities were based on the motto of expelling the French from the country, restoring Vietnam's sovereignty, and establishing the "Republic of Vietnam", a model of state aimed at bringing civil rights, democracy, and freedom to the people... These are values and goals of the times that to this day are the direction of struggle of many countries and peoples, including Vietnam.
Up to now, there have been many research works on Phan Boi Chau's political thought, but none of them directly delve into Phan Boi Chau's thoughts on political parties and state models. Phan Boi Chau (1867 – 1940) was a patriot, a politician, and a caudillo of Vietnam national liberation movement in the early century of XX. He took an important position in modern history on the political thoughts in Vietnam. It's a century since Phan Boi Chau initiated and led the struggle for independence and freedom of our country by the particular activities: Duy Tan Hoi foundation (1904), Dong Du movement (1905), Viet Nam Quang Phuc Hoi foundation (1912) and Viet Nam Quoc Dan Dang foundation (1924) … It started the foundation of a political party with the modern meaning. His thoughts and actual operations were welfare to drive off the French colonialists from our country and revive Viet Nam sovereignty and founded “Viet Nam Republic” – a state bringing, democracy and freedom to Vietnamese people. This is the urgent value and goal which a lot of countries and people including Vietnam aim at.
So far, there have been many studies on Phan Boi Chau's thoughts but no study directly talks about Phan Boi Chau's thoughts on political party and state mechanism. Therefore, the writer chose the thesis title “Phan Boi Chau's Thoughts on Political Parties and State Mechanism” as her study title.
