The workshop was attended by scientists implementing the Nam Dinh Geographical Mission to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU and universities, research institutes; representatives of the Department of Science and Technology of Nam Dinh province, leaders of some functional departments of VNU-USSH.
Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU delivered the opening speech at the conference.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU shared that the school always focuses on investing human resources in practical and highly applicable research, including local geographical records. This is not only a scientific task but also an important political task, a social responsibility of the school, and the professional brand reputation of VNU-USSH.
Professor Hoang Anh Tuan emphasized that the research and construction of the Nam Dinh Geographical Map is identified by the school as a key scientific task in the coming time. The school will create the best conditions for scientists to complete the committed progress on schedule, bringing the most valuable research results.

Prof. Dr. People's Teacher Nguyen Quang Ngoc - Project Manager said that the Nam Dinh Geographical Project is the first geographic project in the North to be implemented. With enthusiasm, responsibility and science, scientists have urgently carried out the project's tasks to meet the requirement of completing the geographic project in 24 months (from May 2023 to April 2025).
The workshop is a forum for scientists to discuss a number of issues on geography, history - politics, economy - society and culture that need to be unified in presenting and compiling SECTIONS of the volumes as well as reporting on the progress of the Nam Dinh Geography. Here, scientists have made a number of recommendations to adjust and supplement the research content as well as coordinate to exploit local research materials to implement the topic according to the schedule and scientific requirements set out.
Previously, in January 2024, the Project Management Board organized a Scientific Workshop to discuss and agree on the rules, criteria, and requirements for building a geographical map according to the new national standards to meet the requirements for connecting and exploiting information of the current digital transformation revolution, including updating local sources of information.

The workshop attracted the participation and discussion of scientists from many universities and research institutes participating in the Nam Dinh Geographical Mission.
The mission of Nam Dinh Gazetteer is to compile Nam Dinh Gazetteer according to the standards of the Vietnam National Gazetteer on the basis of recording, describing, and providing information in a complete, objective, and truthful manner.
Based on the standards of the National Geographic of Vietnam, the Nam Dinh Geographical Collection aims to provide basic knowledge about natural geography, environment, people, history, politics, economy, society, and culture of the current Nam Dinh region in general and specific relationships, in order to contribute to the development of science, education, raising people's intellectual level, serving policy making, developing science, education, raising people's intellectual level, serving policy planning, socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security, contributing to the completion of the special national science and technology task of building the National Geographical Collection of Vietnam according to the Prime Minister's Decision in December 2017.
The team of scientists participating in the Nam Dinh Geographical Mission includes leading researchers in the fields of history, geography, culture, economics, society, etc. from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, research institutes, prestigious universities, and local experts.
