Humanity Bookshelf: Sending kindness to students in the mountainous areas of Lang Son

This is one of the activities in the "Returning to the source" program in 2024.
The program was organized by the Executive Committee of the Youth Union of the Administrative Block in coordination with Saigon - Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SHB); Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language; Institute of Journalism and Communication, University of Social Sciences and Humanities at Huu Lien Secondary School (Huu Lien Commune, Huu Lung District, Lang Son Province) on April 13-14, 2024.
The journey from Hanoi to Lang Son seemed shorter when the vehicle carrying items such as bookcases, gas stoves, books, candies, etc. contributed by staff, lecturers and students arrived at the teachers and students of Huu Lien Secondary School. The eager faces of the students and the welcoming smiles of the teachers at this school brought many emotions to the members of the volunteer group. Sharing at the presentation ceremony, Mr. Dao Tuan Anh - Member of the Standing Committee of the School Youth Union, Secretary of the Youth Union of the School's Headquarters, hoped that each small gift from the group would help to share some of the difficulties so that the students at Huu Lien Secondary School could study with peace of mind.

Mr. Lang Van Duc - Principal of Huu Lien Secondary School, Huu Lien Commune, Huu Lung District, Lang Son said that Huu Lien is a commune with many villages in the particularly difficult ethnic minority and mountainous areas with 40% of households being poor and near-poor, and children here still face many obstacles in going to school. Currently, there are many ethnic minority students boarding at the school, supported daily by the school and teachers. The special affection and gratitude of the staff, lecturers and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU is a great source of encouragement for the students as well as the school in the learning and teaching process.

The volunteer group presented the school with a scholarship fund and the "Humanities Bookshelf" project, 24 gifts and some supplies to disadvantaged students, ethnic minority students, and boarding students at the school.

The "Humanities Bookshelf" with books on life handbooks, comics, and advanced books was presented by teachers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU to students of Huu Lien Secondary School.
Organizing volunteer activities has become a tradition of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, attracting the participation of a large number of staff, lecturers, students, and the support of organizations and businesses. Among them are outstanding activities such as: Warm Winter Volunteer Program of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language; Volunteer Tourism Campaign "Bright Sun in Shan Tuyet" of the Faculty of Tourism; Volunteer Activity "Warm Clothes for Children" in Mu Cang Chai, Yen Bai of the Youth Union, Association of the Faculty of Psychology; Project "Mobile Library" in Ta Voi, Lao Cai of the Youth Union, Association of the Faculty of Information and Library, etc.
The kindness and practical sharing of staff, lecturers and students have contributed to spreading the humanistic values ​​of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU to disadvantaged areas across the country.
