Humanities Bookcase: Sending acts of kindness to students in the mountainous region of Lang Son.

This is one of the activities included in the "Back to the Roots" program in 2024.
The program was organized by the Executive Committee of the Youth Union of the Administrative Staff Block in coordination with Saigon - Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SHB); the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language; and the Institute of Journalism and Communication Training, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, at Huu Lien Secondary School (Huu Lien commune, Huu Lung district, Lang Son province) on April 13-14, 2024.
The journey from Hanoi to Lang Son seemed shorter when the truck carrying items such as bookshelves, gas stoves, books, and candies, all contributed by faculty, staff, and students, arrived at Huu Lien Secondary School for the teachers and students. The eager faces of the students and the warm smiles of the teachers brought many emotions to the members of the volunteer team. Speaking at the handover ceremony, Mr. Dao Tuan Anh, a member of the Standing Committee of the School's Youth Union and Secretary of the Staff Youth Union of the School Administration Block, expressed his hope that each small gift from the team would help alleviate some of the difficulties faced by the students at Huu Lien Secondary School, allowing them to focus on their studies.
Mr. Dao Tuan Anh - Member of the Standing Committee of the School Youth Union, Secretary of the Youth Union Branch for Administrative Staff, presented a scholarship fund worth 10 million VND to Huu Lien Secondary School, Huu Lung, Lang Son.
Mr. Lang Van Duc, Principal of Huu Lien Secondary School in Huu Lien commune, Huu Lung district, Lang Son province, said that Huu Lien is a commune with many villages classified as particularly disadvantaged areas inhabited by ethnic minorities and mountainous regions, with 40% of households classified as poor or near-poor. Attending school for children here still faces many obstacles. Currently, many ethnic minority students are boarding at the school, receiving daily support from the school and teachers. The special affection and gratitude of the staff, lecturers, and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, is a great source of encouragement for the students as well as the school in their studies and teaching.

The volunteer group donated a scholarship fund and a "Humanities Bookcase" project to the school, along with 24 gifts and some supplies to students from disadvantaged backgrounds, ethnic minority students, and boarding students at the school.

The "Humanities Book Collection," featuring books on life skills, comics, and advanced reading materials, was donated by teachers from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, to students of Huu Lien Secondary School.
Organizing volunteer activities has become a tradition at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi, attracting the participation of a large number of staff, lecturers, students, and the support of organizations and businesses. Notable activities include: the "Warm Winter" volunteer program of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language; the "Bright Sunshine in the Shan Tuyet Region" volunteer tourism campaign of the Faculty of Tourism Studies; the "Warm Clothes for Children" volunteer activity in Mu Cang Chai, Yen Bai by the Student Union and Student Association of the Faculty of Psychology; and the "Mobile Library" project in Ta Voi, Lao Cai by the Student Union and Student Association of the Faculty of Information and Library Science…
The compassion and practical acts of sharing from faculty, staff, and students have contributed to spreading the humanitarian values ​​of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi, to disadvantaged areas across the country.
