University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU Hanoi

On the morning of February 27, 2013, Minister of Education and Training Pham Vu Luan and his delegation visited and worked at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi).

On February 26, 2013, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - Rector of the University, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim - Vice Rector of the University, along with representatives from the Faculty of History, the Department of External Relations and International Training Cooperation, held a meeting and working session with Professor Shiraishi Masaya - Faculty of Asia-Pacific Studies, Waseda University, Japan.

The University of Social Sciences and Humanities has had a fairly successful year in many aspects of its activities and is now taking its first steps on the path to integration with the world. On the occasion of the Lunar New Year, the university's veteran faculty members shared their feelings and thoughts about the university's development over the past year, while also offering suggestions for the future development and integration.

The New Zealand Ambassador will introduce the beautiful country of New Zealand. The Ambassador will present information on the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and New Zealand, highlighting areas of strength and growth such as trade and education, as well as study opportunities in New Zealand. There will be ample time for a Q&A session at the end of the talk. This is a great opportunity to learn more about New Zealand and the New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam.

On February 22nd, a delegation from Naresuan University (Thailand) visited and worked at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The delegation was led by Professor Krasae Chanawongse (Chairman of the University Council) and Professor Sujin Jinahyon (Rector). Receiving the delegation on behalf of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities were Vice Rectors Professor Vu Duc Nghieu, Associate Professor Nguyen Van Kim, Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh, along with representatives from the Faculty of Oriental Studies and several departments.

For her positive contributions to promoting French literature in Vietnam, Associate Professor Dang Thi Hanh (former lecturer at the Faculty of Literature - Hanoi University, now the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi) was honored with the Order of the Academic Palms of the Republic of France. The ceremony took place on February 21, 2013 at the French Cultural Center, Hanoi.

Associate Professor Jörg Menzel (University of Bonn - Federal Republic of Germany) presented on the topic "The Constitutional Reform Process in Vietnam: International Experiences on Legislative Powers".

This morning, February 21, 2013, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh (Rector) received Mr. Kim Chang Il - Ambassador of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to Vietnam - who visited and worked at the University.

The University of Social Sciences and Humanities received its quality accreditation certificate (cycle II) on December 28, 2012, issued by the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, based on the recommendation of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi's Quality Accreditation Council. According to the Council's accreditation results, the University met national quality standards with a success rate of 98.3% (60 out of 61 criteria met). According to regulations, to achieve this standard, the affiliated units need to meet 80% of the criteria.

On February 14, 2013 (the 5th day of the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake), Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh – the Rector of the University – visited and extended New Year greetings to a number of the University's staff and lecturers in Hanoi.

On the morning of February 13, 2013, the fourth day of the Lunar New Year (Year of the Snake), the faculty, staff, and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – Vietnam National University, Hanoi, respectfully held a ceremony to offer incense at the Temple of Literature – National University. Representatives from the Board of Directors of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, also participated in the ceremony.

In accordance with the Prime Minister's directive on swapping holidays during the Lunar New Year (Year of the Snake) and based on the training plan for the 2012-2013 academic year, the School respectfully announces the Lunar New Year holiday schedule as follows:

On the occasion of the New Year 2013 and the Year of the Snake, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities organized a gathering of retired teachers and staff on January 29, 2013.

To improve the quality of training and connect training with societal needs, on the morning of January 26, 2013, the Faculty of Linguistics organized a meeting and exchange between students and lecturers of the Faculty with alumni and employers.
