On November 6, 2009, the 2009 Chung-Soo Scholarship Award Ceremony was held at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The Korean Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Im Hong Jae, Mr. Paik Nak Whan, former Korean Ambassador to Vietnam, and many representatives of the Chung-Soo Foundation were present at the event.
In his opening remarks, Associate Professor Pham Gia Lam affirmed that one of the strategic tasks of the University in the coming time is to internationalize its fields of activity, with a priority direction for training and research being area studies, including Korean studies. In that context, “The school is also pleased and honored to be the first institution in Vietnam selected by the Chung-Soo Foundation to award scholarships to students with consistently high academic achievements for three consecutive years, from 2007 to the present."

Speaking at the scholarship award ceremony, the Korean Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Im Hong Jae, highly appreciated the intelligence and thirst for knowledge of Vietnamese students. The Ambassador stated:The Chung-Soo Foundation's awarding of scholarships today has helped to sow seeds of love for learning among Vietnamese students and will surely bear fruit."
This year, 80 students received the Chungsoo Scholarship. These are full-time students with outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements during the 2008-2009 school year. Each scholarship is worth US$250.
This activity once again affirms the good relationship between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Chung-Soo Foundation in particular, and Korean partners in general, over the past period.
