On November 6, 2009, the 2009 Chung-Soo Scholarship Award Ceremony was held at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The Korean Ambassador to Vietnam - Mr. Im Hong Jae, Mr. Paik Nak Whan - former Korean Ambassador to Vietnam - and many representatives of the Chung-Soo Foundation were present at the event.
In his opening speech, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Gia Lam affirmed that one of the strategic tasks of the University in the coming time is to internationalize its fields of operation, in which an important priority direction for training and research is the study area, including Korean studies. In that context, “The school is also pleased and honored to be the first unit in Vietnam to be selected by the Chung-Soo Foundation to award scholarships to excellent students for 3 consecutive years, from 2007 to present.”.
Speaking at the scholarship award ceremony, Korean Ambassador to Vietnam Mr. Im Hong Jae highly appreciated the intelligence and eagerness to learn of Vietnamese students. The Ambassador said: “The Chung-Soo Foundation's scholarship award today has contributed to sowing the seeds of love in Vietnamese students and will certainly bear sweet fruit.”.
This year, 80 students receiving Chungsoo scholarships are full-time students with excellent academic and training achievements in the 2008-2009 school year. Each scholarship is worth 250 US dollars.
This activity once again affirms the good relationship between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Chung-Soo Foundation in particular and Korean partners in general over the past time.
