On the morning of November 13, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Kim - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities received a delegation of officials from Rikkyo University (Japan) led by Dr. Guoquing Du - Deputy Director of the Center for International Exchange.
The content of the working session focused on discussing the results of cooperation activities between the two schools in the past time and proposals for upcoming cooperation activities.
In 2005, Rikkyo University and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities established an official cooperative relationship and since then, the two sides have implemented a number of student and staff exchange activities. At the meeting, Associate Professor Nguyen Van Kim continued to affirm that Japan has always been an important partner in the University's international cooperation development strategy. On that basis, students majoring in Japanese Studies at the University have received much support from Japanese universities, funds, and educational organizations. Rikkyo University, with many majors reaching international standards, especially through the Asian Talent Training Program, has directly created conditions for excellent Vietnamese students to study and work in Japan. Associate Professor Nguyen Van Kim assessed that this is a creative way of Rikkyo University to help Vietnamese students integrate into an international-class learning environment as well as experience and improve their knowledge in a professional working environment.
Dr. Guoquing Du said that the Japanese government's scholarship program for foreign students has been running for many years, but they later realized that it was a waste of high-quality human resources when trained students were not given the opportunity to find jobs in worthy positions. Therefore, the Asian Talent Training Program was established with the aim of finding excellent students to train and creating suitable working environments for them to develop their abilities.
In 2007 and 2008, 5 students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities were selected to study in Japan under this program and they proved their abilities in the new environment. The achievements of these international students also contributed to creating a better learning atmosphere for Japanese students.
Overall, Associate Professor Nguyen Van Kim said that in recent times, the two universities have had active activities to translate the terms signed in the cooperation document into very effective activities in practice. The school hopes to continue receiving support from Rikkyo University in human resource training projects, expert exchanges, etc., thereby tightening and strengthening the cooperative relationship between the two universities.
