The 2009 Summer Volunteer Team of the University's Youth Union launched on July 15, 2009, with 508 students participating in 13 volunteer models, operating in 8 provinces and cities. With many creative models linked to the specific professional characteristics of each unit, the volunteer activities focused on the following main areas:

- Participating in local educational activities: organizing cultural and foreign language classes; donating textbooks, notebooks, and school supplies.

- Participating in local economic development: disseminating techniques for planting, caring for, and protecting forests, livestock farming techniques, and improving the condition of degraded land.

- Participating in building the local cultural and social environment: disseminating information on laws, traffic safety, environmental protection, providing health care counseling for adolescents and women, sharing knowledge on childcare and nurturing, family planning, etc.

- Participate in cultural and sports activities, build and strengthen strong Youth Union and Association organizations: organize cultural activities, sports competitions, summer activities for teenagers, and provide professional skills training for local Youth Union officials.

- Building youth projects for local communities: constructing roads, planting forests, building classrooms, dormitories for students, and constructing libraries for schools.

In addition, several other innovative models have created a unique brand for the student volunteers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, implemented effectively and highly appreciated by the public, such as teaching Han-Nom script at the Hanoi Children's Palace, promoting Thang Long culture at the Temple of Literature - National University, and the campaign reporting team of the Faculty of Journalism…

With the above achievements, 3 groups and 5 members received commendations from the Hanoi City Youth Union, 5 groups and 10 members received commendations from the Vietnam National University, Hanoi Youth Union, and 5 groups and 62 members received certificates of merit from the Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
