FIS English Club (FEC) is a club under the Faculty of International Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, established in 2012. The number of members ranges from 25-40 members, including both inside and outside the school.
The club was established to create an environment for learning and practicing English with many rich and exciting activities for USSH students in particular and students in Hanoi in general. FEC has not only helped students improve their foreign language skills but also helped them expand their social and cultural knowledge, enriching their spiritual life through each weekly activity.
FEC activities include weekly meetings, international student exchanges, extracurricular activities and organizing events and programs related to English. At meetings, members maintain English speaking activities such as: debating in English on a controversial topic, a topic that receives a lot of attention from everyone; presenting in English on daily life topics; playing games in English... In addition, the club also organizes exchange activities with many international students from the US, Japan, Russia, India, Ireland... studying at the school and international student delegations visiting and attending seminars at the school.
In particular, FEC has two major annual activities: the English Film Making Contest - "FOLLYWOOD" and the English Singing Contest "Melody of life" (MOL). The English Film Making Contest - FOLLYWOOD is an annual competition to celebrate the club's birthday. Participants will make a short film of 10-15 minutes in English on a topic given by the Organizing Committee. The film premiere will be both a birthday celebration for the club and the final meeting of the school year. The English Singing Contest Melody of life (MOL) is the biggest program organized by the club. The program is held every two years with the enthusiastic participation and response of members inside and outside the club.
On May 22, 2018, there was a screening of the movie FOLLYWOOD, which was also the 6th birthday celebration of the Club. The program attracted many participants including: lecturers of the Faculty of International Studies, representatives of affiliated clubs: Film Club, Photography Club, English Club of the Faculty of Political Science, FIS members...
FIS English Club has created an English practice environment for Humanities students, helping many members improve their English skills and have the opportunity to practice English. In addition, with a variety of activities, members have also developed many other skills such as film making, singing or event organization. Club activities have contributed to maintaining the English learning culture of students at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
