Sunday - May 27, 2018 23:58
Recently, the FIS English Club, an English club for students, celebrated its 6th anniversary. Over the past 6 years, FIS has had many impressive and outstanding English-related activities.

The English Club of the Faculty of International Studies - FIS English Club (FEC) is a club affiliated with the Faculty of International Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, established in 2012. The number of members fluctuates between 25 and 40, including members from within and outside the university.

The club was established to create a learning and English-speaking environment with many rich and vibrant activities for USSH students in particular and students in Hanoi in general. FEC has not only helped students improve their foreign language skills but also helped them expand their knowledge of culture and society, enriching their spiritual lives through each weekly meeting.

FEC's activities include weekly meetings, international student exchanges, extracurricular activities, and organizing events and programs related to English. During meetings, members engage in English-speaking activities such as: debating in English on controversial topics or topics of public interest; giving presentations in English on everyday life topics; playing games in English, etc. In addition, the club also organizes exchanges with many international students from the USA, Japan, Russia, India, Ireland, and other countries studying at the university, as well as international student delegations visiting and attending seminars at the university.

In particular, FEC has two major annual activities: the English Filmmaking Contest – “FOLLYWOOD” and the English Singing Contest “Melody of Life” (MOL). The English Filmmaking Contest – FOLLYWOOD is an annual competition held to celebrate the club's anniversary. Participating members create a 10-15 minute short film in English on a topic given by the organizers. The film screening serves as both a birthday celebration for the club and the final activity of the academic year. The English Singing Contest Melody of Life (MOL) is the largest program organized by the club. Held every two years, it receives enthusiastic participation from members both inside and outside the club.

On May 22nd, 2018, a screening of the film FOLLYWOOD was held, coinciding with the club's 6th anniversary celebration. The event attracted many participants, including faculty members from the Faculty of International Studies, representatives from affiliated clubs such as the Film Club, Photography Club, and the English Club of the Faculty of Political Science, as well as FIS members.

The FIS English Club has created an English-practice environment for humanities students, helping many members improve their English skills and providing opportunities to practice English. In addition, through diverse activities, members have also developed other skills such as filmmaking, singing, and event organizing. The club's activities have contributed to maintaining the English-learning culture among students at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
