The sports festival is organized to encourage the physical training movement, enhance learning exchange, and connection between individuals and units throughout VNU; encourage a large number of staff and students to regularly practice sports to improve their health, serve their studies and work, and contribute to the strong development of VNU.
At the opening ceremony of this year's Sports Festival, athletes from 33 member and affiliated units participated in the parade and more than 1,000 students participated in the performance. The athletes competed in many different events.
The staff of 30 units competed in the following sports: tug of war, table tennis, athletics and men's football. In the final ranking for staff, the first place for the whole delegation was the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Sciences Team with a total score of 38 points; the University of Social Sciences and Humanities Team ranked second, the International School Team ranked third; the following positions respectively belonged to the University of Foreign Languages; University of Education; University Urban Management Center; VNU Agency;….
Students from 12 training units competed in the following sports: men's soccer, women's soccer, men's basketball, women's basketball, table tennis, athletics, men's volleyball and women's volleyball. The first place belonged to the Student Group of the University of Economics with a total score of 152 points; the Student Group of the University of Technology ranked second with 110 points; the third place was the Student Group of the International School with a total score of 88 points.
In particular, the 2023 Men's Football Tournament for Cadres attracted the participation of 14 teams from grassroots trade unions under the VNU Trade Union, divided into 4 groups A, B, C, D. The group stage matches took place from October 14 to November 18, 2023 at the VNU Sports Complex Football Field (No. 2 Pham Van Dong), while the final match and the 2023 award ceremony were held at the National Defense and Security Education Center Football Field, VNU Urban Area in Hoa Lac.
The men's football team of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities won the 2023 Men's Football Championship for the third consecutive time
Player Nguyen Van Thuy (Men's Soccer Team, University of Social Sciences and Humanities) received the award for Player with the most goals.
Goalkeeper Trinh Van Bang (Men's Football Team, University of Social Sciences and Humanities) received the Best Goalkeeper award.
After many intense and dramatic qualifying matches, the team of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the team of the University of Foreign Languages reached the final match of the 2023 VNU Men's Football Tournament. At the closing ceremony, the representative of the Organizing Committee, Vice President of VNU Nguyen Hoang Hai awarded the First Prize to the team of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; the Second Prize went to the team of the University of Foreign Languages; the Team of the VNU Agency - World Bank Management Board and the Joint Team shared the Third Prize.
