Summary of the results of the thesis: From the surveys and research on allusions in Buddhist poetry during the Ly-Tran period, the thesis achieved the following results: as follows: Based on English and Chinese references, the thesis provides concepts and understandings of allusions. The thesis especially emphasizes the view of allusions as an intertextual activity characterized by double frames of reference between the quoted text and the cited text. Through the system of cultural values on which allusions are based, the meaningful effect of the poem is enhanced. The thesis endorses the view of allusions as a system of implicit, indirect references. The most meaningful type of allusions is the type of allusions with metaphorical, symbolic characteristics, through which the intention of the poem is captured on the level of implication. The thesis examines the forms of allusions and allusions in Ly Tran Buddhist poetry. Through emphasizing the function of metaphor and indirect suggestion, the thesis points out the contribution of the allusions system in conveying Buddhist teachings. 12. Offered many kind of concepts on allusion through analyzing materials by English and Chinese.
