The thesis presents the process of adjusting and developing Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's foreign policy views towards the East Asia region, especially during his second term from 2012 to 2016. Mr. Abe's political and diplomatic views changed over time, marking the transformation of the East Asia region, increasingly enhancing its role in the international arena.

The thesis specifically analyzes those foreign policy views through Japan's bilateral and multilateral relations with countries and organizations in the East Asian region in the fields of politics, economics, culture, and foreign affairs. At the same time, it objectively recognizes and evaluates the remaining problems between Japan and other countries. In particular, the author points out the indispensable role of Japan in the ASEAN organization, especially its role in the ASEAN+1 and ASEAN+3 mechanisms.

The thesis presents the relationship between Vietnam and Japan during the time Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was in power. Thereby, the author analyzes the impacts of Japan's foreign policy on the Southeast Asian region in general and Vietnam in particular.

The thesis presents the process of adjusting and developing of Prime Minister (PM) Shinzo Abe's foreign policy toward East Asia, especially his second term from 2012 to 2016. Political and diplomatic views of PM Abe have been changed through each period of time, to some extent affecting East Asia area which increased its role in the international arena.

The thesis analyzes these external views through Japan's bilateral and multilateral relations with countries and organizations in East Asia area in the fields of politics, economics, foreign affairs. Also, the author recognizes and assess remaining problems between Japan and these countries. Especially, the author focuses on the indispensable role of Japan in ASEAN, especially in ASEAN + 1, ASEAN + 3.
