10. Summary of the thesis results:

- This thesis presents the concepts and characteristics of intercultural communication, a process requiring the participation of two elements: communication and culture. In particular, the intercultural communication participants, coming from different cultures, influence the communication process. The thesis explores the nature of international negotiation (subjects, types of negotiation, negotiation stages), and specifically analyzes some of the barriers to intercultural communication in international negotiation.

- This thesis analyzes the impact of intercultural communication factors on all aspects of international negotiations (from the negotiation preparation phase to negotiation goals, content, attitudes, and psychology...). The elements of interaction and communication are also crucial factors in the negotiation process.

- This thesis explores several characteristics of Vietnamese communication culture (positive aspects and limitations), and based on that, proposes comprehensive solutions (communication strategies, education, promoting positive aspects and changing limitations in Vietnamese communication culture) to help Vietnam participate successfully in international negotiations.

11. Summary of the findings of the thesis:

- The thesis presents basic concepts and characteristics of intercultural communication, especially the dialectic impact between culture and communication. Moreover, it defines international negotiations including types of actors, types of negotiations, stages of negotiations and points out basic and inherent barriers to the process of intercultural communication that affect the interaction in international negotiations.

- The thesis focuses on influences of the two factors- communication and culture and their differences on the process of international negotiation. Firstly, the author presents the model of the negotiation regarded as the process of communication with its usual elements in which communication affects skills much the success of international negotiations. Secondly, the author deals with the cultural factors that affect every side of the negotiation from the beginning to all the stages of the negotiation, ranging from psychological aspects of negotiators to negotiation styles.

- The thesis also analyzes the characteristics of Vietnamese communication culture in terms of both positive and negative sides. Based on these, the author proposes comprehensive measures (such as intercultural communication competence, training in intercultural communication, developing positive traits of Vietnamese communication culture and changing negative ones…) so that Vietnamese negotiators might be more efficient in international negotiations.
