The Bunpimay festival holds significant value in fostering unity and celebrating the solidarity of the community, organized by the people of various Lao ethnic groups. This community is bound together geographically across Laos, connected by shared resources and economic interests, as well as by a common religious belief in Buddhism. Therefore, the organization of the festival plays a crucial role in creating resonance and mobilizing unity among the community. From this economic and religious bond, the purpose of the festival is a shared goal for the community. It is not only a place for fun and conversation about the past year and harvest, but also a sacred place to inform the deities and ancestors about the results of the harvest. It serves as a genuine and relatable lesson for future generations about gratitude and respect for their ancestors. All of these elements create strong bonds between individuals within the community, reinforcing and fostering the collective strength of the community.
