Summary of the thesis results: The thesis explores the integration process in East Asia from the idea of integration to the practical process of regional cooperation. Based on that, the thesis systematizes and deeply analyzes the views and policies of the Japanese Government on East Asian integration; at the same time, it provides objective assessments of the purpose and contributions of Japan to this process. Finally, the thesis predicts the role of Japan in East Asia, and from there proposes some recommendations related to Vietnam. 11. Practical application: As member states of East Asia, participation in regional cooperation is an inevitable process for both Vietnam and Japan. Through studying and researching Japan's policies, we will be able to learn from some of our friend's experiences in actively and proactively participating in East Asian integration; Simultaneously, it identifies a reasonable direction to further strengthen and promote the comprehensive friendly cooperative relationship with Japan. 12. Further research directions: Due to objective and subjective conditions, the thesis only presents initial assessments of Vietnam's role and benefits from participating in regional cooperation. The author anticipates that the next research direction of the thesis will focus on understanding Vietnam's contributions and specifically analyzing its influence in the East Asian integration process, thereby making comparisons and contrasts with Japan, China, South Korea, etc., to give the thesis higher scientific and practical value.

Summary of the findings of the thesis: The emphasis of the thesis is to learn about the association process in East Asia from the association ideas to the regional cooperation reality. From there, the thesis systematizes and intensively analyzes viewpoints and policies of Japanese Government on the East Asia Association. In addition, objective assessments of the purpose and contribution of Japan with this process are also presented in the thesis. Finally, the thesis forecasts Japan's role in East Asia then proposes some suggestions in connection with Vietnam. 11. Further research directions, if any: Due to objective and subjective conditions, the thesis just presents proactive assessments on the role and benefits of Vietnam during its participation in the regional cooperation. As expectation of the author, the following research direction of the thesis shall focus on studying contributions and analyzing detailedly influences of Vietnam in the East Asian association process, thennceforward giving comparison and collation with Japan, China and Korea…etc…The thesis has much more scientific and actual value.
