Chapter 1 provides an overview of Japan and Africa as well as a brief history of the formation and development of Japan-Africa relations starting from the 16th century until after World War II. Japan-Africa relations in this period were built on the foundation of "resource diplomacy" and laid the foundation for the later development of the relationship. Chapter 2 focuses on studying Japan-Africa relations in the first decade of the 21st century. Japan-Africa relations entering the new millennium have been raised to a new level, achieving certain results in the fields of politics - diplomacy, and economics. The first decade of the 21st century is the time for Japan to consolidate and develop good political and diplomatic relations with African countries so that diplomacy is the door to open economic relations between the two sides. In the economic relations between Japan and Africa, aid is a prominent field because Japan and Africa are not yet trade partners and Japan's FDI flows to Africa are still limited. It can be seen that Japan is an active factor supporting Africa in international forums, has a role in promoting economic growth - poverty reduction and actively supports African countries to achieve MDGs as well as has a responsibility towards climate change for Africa. From there, it is predicted that in the next 10 years, Japan will certainly maintain the same channels of operation as in the past. Political and diplomatic relations between Japan and Africa will continue to develop well. Japan remains an active supporter of Africa in international forums and conferences. Economic relations between Japan and Africa will make some progress. Japan will continue to be one of the major donors to Africa. By 2020, South-South cooperation and the tripartite cooperation model (Africa - Japan - Vietnam) will be more practical and effective in the fields of politics - diplomacy, economics, trade, investment, agriculture, labor, experts, health, education, science and technology. 11.
