10. Summary of thesis results:

The border is a special area of each country, acting as a gateway for communication with other countries. The Vietnam-China border area is home to many ethnic minorities. The development of education in the border ethnic areas is not only related to the economic and social development of the area but also affects the education of the whole country.

After implementing the reform and opening up, realizing that border issues and ethnic activities directly affect the economic development and stability of the country, the Vietnamese Party and Government have continuously introduced a series of special policies and plans on economic, cultural and social development for ethnic minorities in border areas such as Plan 134, Plan 135... The effectiveness of these policies can now be clearly seen. Similar to Vietnam, China has also continuously introduced policies to support educational development such as the "three free" policy, "nutritious meals", and education at the border area". Thanks to the efforts of the leadership and the support of the people, these policies have significantly improved the situation in the border areas and helped the education system here achieve many breakthrough achievements.

The thesis is based on the educational policies of the border areas of the two countries (Lao Cai province and Hong Ha district, Yunnan province) since the normalization of the Vietnam-China relationship. It can be seen that the development of education in the border areas of the two countries has its own characteristics and features. If we systematically compare and analyze the educational policies of the two countries, we can see that the two countries have a certain direction, know how to learn from each other's strengths, and at the same time support and supplement the shortcomings in the development of ethnic minority education in the Vietnam-China border areas.

11. Practical application:

All the research results of the thesis can be applied in practice right now. The results help China and Vietnam build a database on educational policies, especially educational policies for ethnic minorities in border areas; make systematic assessments of policies and the effectiveness of these policies; from there, the Ministry and Department can apply the recommended solutions with high practical application value of the thesis. Reason: the conclusions of the thesis are synthesized from practice; the solutions proposed are based on reality that has been effectively applied; and the author of the thesis has the conditions to put them into practice.

12. Further research directions:

The thesis has not had the opportunity to deeply study and evaluate the issue of Employment opportunities for ethnic minority students after graduation in Lao Cai province, Vietnam and Hong Ha district, Yunnan province, China. Secondly, the thesis has not studied much about the current situation of vocational training for ethnic minorities to meet the needs of businesses in the current context of Lao Cai province, Vietnam and Hong Ha district, Yunnan province, China. These two contents are very practical and useful for making educational and labor policies of the two border provinces of Vietnam and China. Through comparing and evaluating the implementation results, conclusions can be drawn and useful recommendations can be made for the governments of the two countries, Vietnam and China, and the leaders of the two provinces, Lao Cai and Yunnan.

11. Summary of the findings of the thesis:

Frontier which is a special area of each country serves as the gateway to communicate with other countries. The area of Vietnam – China frontier locates a great number of ethnic regions, the development of education in this area not only relates to regional economic and social development but also affects the national education.

After the opening-up period, noting the direct effects of frontier issues and the activities of all ethnic groups on economic development and national stability, the Party and the Government of Vietnam consecutively published such a series of policies, special plans to boost the economy, culture, society for ethnic groups in frontier as Plan 134, Plan 135… It, now, can be clearly seen that those polices work well. Similar to Vietnam, China continuously launched education-supporting policies as “three free” policy, “nutritious meals”, frontier education… Thanks to the efforts of the leadership and the favor of people, these policies had significantly improved the situation in the frontier and helped the regional education to gain numerous breaking achievements.

This thesis is based on the educational policies of the two countries borders (Laocai and Hongha in Vannam) right after the normalization of the relationship between Vietnam and China. The educational development in the frontier of the nations' owns their unique characteristics and features. As the educational polices of the two countries systematically compared, we can see that each country has its own certain direction, learns the other's strengths, as well as supports and supplementary shortcomings in the path to progress ethnic areas' education in Vietnam- China frontier.

12. Practical applicability, if any:

Currently we can apply all results in the thesis in practice. These results support China and Vietnam to build a database for educational policies, especially those for ethnic groups in the border, to offer systematic assessments on the policies and its effects, in order for the Department to put recommended solutions in this thesis to life.

The reason is that the conclusions in the thesis are summarized from the reality, the given solutions are based on the effectiveness when applied in real and the author of the thesis is able to put them in life.

13. Further research directions, if any:

The author of the thesis is not able to study deeper and evaluate the issues of Employment opportunities for minority students after graduating in Laocai, Vietnam and Hongha, Vannam, China. Secondly, there is not much analysis on the fact of vocational training for ethnic areas in order to meet the demand in the current context of Laocai, Vietnam and Hongha,Vannam, China. These two components are extremely practical and useful for the Government to propose educational and labor policies in two border provinces of Vietnam and China. After comparing and analyzing the results, we can make conclusions and offer some practical recommendations for the two Governments of Vietnam and China as well as the leaders of Laocai and Vannam.
