The research presented in this thesis aims to provide an overview of the independent living model and the effectiveness of the Independent Living Center model for people with mobility disabilities in particular and people with disabilities in general. The main activities of this model include peer counseling, personal assistance, and independent living programs. The thesis focuses on the current state of the model's operation, relating it to several countries that have successfully implemented this model. Finally, the author proposes several recommendations to improve the effectiveness of this model for people with mobility disabilities and people with disabilities in general if this assistance model is replicated in Vietnam.

The studies included in the thesis aim to provide an overview of the independent living model and the performance of the model with the Independent Living Center of mobility impaired people in particular and people with disabilities in general. The main activities of this model include: peer counseling, personal assistants, independent living programs. In the thesis the author focuses on the situation of operation of the present model in which contacts with some countries already do and succeed with this model. Finally, some authors stated recommendations to help improve the effectiveness of this model for disabled athletes in particular and disability in general if this pattern is replicated assistance in Vietnam.
