10. Summary of the thesis results:

The Northwest region of Vietnam is home to the majority of the Hmong population. Religiously, before the 1980s, the Hmong in this area primarily practiced animism and polytheism; there were no Protestants. Since 1987, a segment of the Hmong population has converted to Protestantism, and currently there are over 200,000 followers. This represents a significant change in the religious life of the Hmong people. The introduction and development of Protestantism has had both positive and negative impacts on the Hmong community in the region, including the Hmong in Lao Cai province. Currently, nearly 30,000 Hmong in Lao Cai are Protestants, and their culture is undergoing diverse transformations, shifting from traditional to modern – Protestant – culture. This requires greater attention from all levels of government and researchers in preserving and promoting the traditional cultural identity of ethnic groups, embracing new ideas, and eliminating negative influences on the community life of these ethnic groups.

10. Summary of the findings of the thesis:

North West of Vietnam is the place where most of Mong people are concentrated. In terms of religion, before the 1980s, the Hmong were mainly based on the spirituality and worship of polytheism, with no Protestants. Since 1987, a part of the Hmong has been converted to Protestantism, and there are now over 200,000 followers. This is a significant change in the religious life of the Mong. The penetration and development of Protestantism has both positive and negative impact on the Mong people in the area, including Mong people in Lao Cai province. At present in Lao Cai, there are nearly 30,000 Protestant Mongols who have been transformed from cultural traditions to modern culture and adapted to the values of cultural Protestantism. This calls for greater attention by the authorities, researchers in the preservation and promotion of the ethno-cultural tradition, the acquisition of the new and the removal of the negative of the communal life of the ethnic peoples here.
