This was also the core element leading to the changes in literature during this transitional period.

- From a theoretical perspective: This thesis contributes to understanding the evolution of literature within the patriotic literary movement.

- In terms of practical value: The thesis sheds light on the process of changing literary concepts, audiences, and literary genres stemming from the shift in patriotic ideology during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

10. Summary of the results of the thesis:

- The thesis has clarified the as well as the process of investigating on patriotic thoughts expressed in Vietnamese literature from the late nineteenth century to the early twentieth century conditions. The shift from neutral to modernized patrotic ideologies was reflected through two typical authors Phan Dinh Phung and Phan Boi Chau. This has also been considered the leading cause for literary changes in the transitional period.

- In theory: The thesis contributes to buliding awareness of the development of Vietnamese patriotic literature.

- In practice: The thesis clarifies the changes in literary concepts, readers and literary genres, which stems from the changes in patriotic ideologies. This thesis can also be a useful reference for lessons on Vietnamese literature from the late nineteenth century to the early twentieth.
