Party Cell of the Faculty of Tourism Studies, term 2017-2020: Comprehensive achievements.

At the beginning of the 2017-2020 term, the Party Branch of the Faculty of Tourism Studies had 7 members. Currently, the Party Branch has a total of 15 members, including 6 staff members and 9 student members. The Faculty Party Committee consists of two members of the Faculty's Executive Board: Comrade Pham Hong Long, Secretary of the Party Branch and Head of the Faculty of Tourism Studies; and Comrade Nguyen Ngoc Dung, Deputy Secretary of the Party Branch and Deputy Head of the Faculty. This ensures greater efficiency and unity in leadership, guidance, and management of the Party Branch and the Faculty of Tourism Studies. Under the leadership of the Party Committee, the Party Branch of the Faculty of Tourism Studies has achieved commendable results in many areas, particularly in leading political and ideological work, personnel organization, professional work, and Party building and the development of mass organizations.

Faculty members of the Tourism Studies Party Branch participated in capacity-building training in Thailand in 2019.

During the past term, the Party Branch of the Faculty of Tourism Studies has been a strong organization. Its members possess sound political ideology, professional competence, a high sense of responsibility, and a strong commitment to the common work of the Faculty and the University. The Party Branch has effectively implemented resolutions on planning, training, and improving the qualifications of Party members and the general public within the Faculty. Internal political security and the fight against negative manifestations, "self-transformation," and "self-evolution" have been well-executed by the Party Branch. As a result, during the past term, neither the Party Branch nor the entire Faculty has experienced any misconduct in its activities.

From 2017 to 2020, the Faculty's staff experienced changes, including two Associate Professors reaching retirement age and one staff member moving abroad. In this context, the Faculty's Party Committee and Party Branch directed the training and recruitment of two additional staff members. Currently, the Faculty of Tourism Studies has 16 staff and lecturers, making it one of the few units in the University where 100% of its staff (including two specialists) hold a Master's degree or higher. In December 2019, Comrade Pham Hong Long, Secretary of the Party Branch and Head of the Faculty of Tourism Studies, was appointed Associate Professor.

Despite the limited number of staff and the heavy workload, the faculty and lecturers in the Party Branch and the Faculty of Tourism Studies have made great efforts to undertake teaching (two undergraduate programs, one master's program, and one doctoral program) and scientific research. Under the leadership and guidance of the Party Committee and the Party Branch of the Faculty of Tourism Studies, in 2018, the Faculty of Tourism Studies successfully developed and was authorized by Hanoi National University to open a doctoral program in Tourism – the first doctoral program in Tourism in Vietnam. Currently, it has enrolled two cohorts, each with seven doctoral students. The two undergraduate programs (Service and Travel Management and Hotel Management) and the Master's program in Tourism of the Faculty have also consistently attracted the attention of students and have been highly appreciated by society for the quality of their graduates throughout the past term.

The Faculty Party Committee collaborated with the Faculty's Trade Union in the cooking competition organized by the University's Trade Union to celebrate Vietnamese Teachers' Day on November 20, 2019. The Faculty's Trade Union won two prizes: Third place overall and Best Main Dish.

During the 2017-2020 term, faculty members of the Department published numerous articles in domestic and international scientific journals. In addition, student scientific research was always emphasized. The quantity and quality of student scientific reports improved year after year. The 2019 Student Scientific Conference featured 101 reports, presented by 111 students from various classes. The Party Committee and Party Branch of the Faculty of Tourism Studies have regularly directed the activities of the Trade Union, Youth Union, and Student Association (primarily targeting students), resulting in many positive outcomes and high praise from political, social, and other organizations inside and outside the University.
