University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU Hanoi

On April 25th, Professor Nguyen Van Khanh (Rector of the University) held a meeting with Professor Chung Sok Suh (Director of the Institute of Korean Studies, University of New South Wales, Australia). During the meeting, the two sides discussed future cooperation plans: jointly undertaking a five-year interdisciplinary research project on public administration, culture, and economic policy. A joint scientific conference is also planned for July 2012.

On April 22, 2011, a delegation from Guangxi Nationalities University (China), led by Professor Chung Hai-ching (Party Secretary), visited and worked with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

On April 21st, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh (Rector) and the leadership of the Faculty of Management Science met and worked with Ms. Alexandra Mayr – Director of International Projects, University of Alicante (Spain). During the meeting, the Rector and Ms. Alexandra Mayr discussed plans for cooperation between the two universities in developing a project on intellectual property with funding from the European Commission.

At the invitation of the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation, three faculty members from the University, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh, Dr. Bui Thanh Nam, and MSc. Pham Quoc Thanh, participated in the International Conference “US-Vietnam Relations: Striving for Stability, 2010-2020” held at the University of Montana (USA) from April 11-13, 2011.

In 2010, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Federal Republic of Germany celebrated the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1975-2010). The book you are holding is a commemorative work for this important event. It is the result of continuous cooperation between the two institutions: the Goethe Institute Hanoi and the Faculty of International Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. This idea certainly would not have become a reality without the contributions of scientists from both Germany and Vietnam.

On March 17, 2011, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh – Rector of the University, along with representatives from the Faculty of International Studies, met and worked with Professor Dr. Laszlo Vass – Rector of the Budapest University of Business and Communication, Hungary.

During his visit and working trip to several Australian universities on February 25, 2011, Professor Nguyen Van Khanh signed a cooperation agreement with the University of South Australia.

Professor Tatsuru Akimoto – Vice President of the International Association of Schools of Social Work – visited and worked with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities on February 23, 2011. Receiving Professor Tatsuru Akimoto were Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Kim Son – Vice Rector of the University – along with representatives from the Faculty of Sociology and the Department of Social Work.

On February 21, 2011, Associate Professor Dr. Vu Duc Nghieu - Vice Rector of the University - along with representatives from the Faculty of Oriental Studies, held a meeting and working session with a delegation from Valaya Alongkorn University.

On February 18, 2011, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - Rector of the University - along with representatives from the Political Science Department, met and worked with Dr. Eva Hansson - Lecturer in the Political Science Faculty, Stockholm University (Sweden).

Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - Rector of the University - had a meeting and working session with Mr. Liu Tam Chan - Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Vietnam - and staff from the cultural department of the Chinese Embassy on January 27, 2011.

On the afternoon of January 19, 2011, Associate Professor Dr. Vu Duc Nghieu - Vice Rector of the University - along with representatives from several faculties, departments, and functional offices, met and worked with Mr. Matthieu Lacave - an independent assessor invited by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs - and representatives from the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On December 16th in Hanoi, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, in collaboration with Bansomdej Chaopraya University (Thailand), organized an international seminar on developing Southeast Asian Studies as a discipline.

On November 24, 2010, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU Hanoi) signed a cooperation agreement with Shih Hsin University (Taiwan).

This morning, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities signed a cooperation agreement for joint training of full-time students with Shanghai University (China).
