This thesis is the first monograph on the three concentric walls of Co Loa Ancient Citadel based on the results of archaeological excavations from 2007 to 2014.
This thesis focuses on compiling data from archaeological investigations and excavations at three city walls: the Outer Citadel, the Fire Retreat, and the Inner Citadel, including the central citadel and moat, conducted from 2007 to 2014. The main topics that will be addressed in depth in this thesis are:
- Wall construction techniques: Techniques for constructing the Outer Wall, Middle Wall, Inner Wall, and Fire Embankment. Identifying the layers of earth used to build the walls during the reign of An Dương Vương - wall construction methods: Digging trenches to obtain earth for wall construction - techniques for reinforcing ramparts: compacting, reinforcing with solid materials such as pebbles, gravel, natural stone, and broken tiles.
- Regarding dating: Determine the age of the layers of embankment and fortifications used in different periods of history.
