Summary of the results of the thesis: In recent years, the issue of religion has become a security hotspot in the world. Therefore, the dissemination and information about religion in general and Buddhism in particular is an extremely important task of the press. With that awareness, the thesis topic "Buddhist press in Vietnam: current situation and problems" was born. The highlight of the current Buddhist press is to clarify the issues of belief in social life, creating conditions for those who are struggling with faith and Buddhist affinity to have a more correct and objective view of religion. This press stream also promotes national awareness and traditions, contributing to building great national unity and solidarity among religions. In addition, it contributes significantly to promoting and orienting the construction of a strong national economy without straying from national traditions and ethics. It can be said that Buddhism is one of the largest and oldest religions in Vietnam, but Buddhist journalism only occupies a very modest position in the country's journalism. Through research, the author finds that the biggest drawback of Vietnamese Buddhist journalism is: - The presentation is still sketchy and not eye-catching, compared to other fields, Buddhist news is too poor, with little information... so it has not attracted the attention of a large number of readers. Moreover, the publications are not diverse enough to create a rich choice for readers. - The team of reporters is not really "professional" and often avoids current religious events related to ideology, ideological views, politics... Most of the writers are researchers who write articles of scientific value in this field, but when mentioning the above issues, they are reserved or evasive. Meanwhile, the journalists who are "involved" mostly lack specialized knowledge about religion, so their articles are somewhat one-sided and lack depth. - Buddhist press also needs to promote the application of information technology modernization to bring Vietnamese Buddhist press closer to the Vietnamese community living abroad and promote the image of Buddhism as well as Vietnamese culture to international friends. 11. Practical applicability: Can be applied to the organization, publication and distribution of Vietnamese Buddhist press in the following years. 12. Further research directions: None 13. Published works related to the thesis: - Pham Minh Duc (2001, Course 38 - University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi), Graduation thesis in journalism: "Current situation of Vietnamese Catholicism in the newspaper Chinh Nghia and Vietnamese Catholics" supervised by Professor Ha Minh Duc. - Tran Luu (2001, Course 38 - University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi), Graduation thesis in journalism: "Vietnamese press with the issue of belief and religion" supervised by Professor - Doctor Do Quang Hung.

Summary of the findings of the thesis: In recent years, religion issues have been being top security issue in the world. Therefore, propagating and providing information about religion in general and Buddhism in particular are of very important function of press. With this acknowledgment, the thesis “Buddhism Press in Vietnamese– Practices and Problems” comes into existence. One outstanding feature of Buddhism Press is currently clarifying religious issues in social life, facilitating the objective and appropriate outlook about religion of persons who are interested in Buddhism. This class of press also promotes attitude and tradition of the nation, contributing in building the great unity of ethnics and religions. Besides, it contributes a significant part in encouraging and instructing for the development of national economy in accordance with national tradition and ethic. Buddhism is one of the major and long-standing religions in Vietnam, however Buddhism Press is still of small account in the Vietnamese Press community. Under consideration, the writer realizes that its major drawbacks are as follows: - The performance is simple and unattractive; the Buddhism news and information is insufficient; Therefore it is unable to attract the interest of the audience. Furthermore, the products are not diversified enough to offer various options for audience. - The correspondents are not really “professional” and tend to avoid religious events which involve political view and attitude. Most of the correspondents are professional in scientific value of the field but not willing or avoid reporting these issues. In the meantime, correspondents who are eager to “combat” but lack of specific knowledge results in the articles are unsatisfying and unthorough. - Buddhism Press also needs to apply modern information technology in order to approach Vietnamese oversea residents and broadcasting Buddhism images as well as Vietnamese culture to the world. 12.
