Summary of Thesis Results: In recent years, religious issues have become a hot topic in global security. Therefore, disseminating information about religion in general and Buddhism in particular is an extremely important task for the press. With this understanding, the thesis topic "Buddhist Journalism in Vietnam: Current Situation and Issues" was born. A prominent feature of Buddhist journalism today is clarifying religious issues in social life, creating conditions for those who are struggling with their faith and connection to Buddhism to have a more accurate and objective view of religion. This type of journalism also promotes national consciousness and traditions, contributing to building national unity and solidarity among religions. Furthermore, it plays a significant role in promoting and guiding the building of a strong national economy while remaining true to national traditions and ethics. Buddhism is arguably one of the largest and oldest religions in Vietnam, yet Buddhist journalism occupies a very modest position within the national press. Through research, the author has identified the biggest shortcomings of Vietnamese Buddhist journalism as: - The presentation is rudimentary and unattractive; compared to other fields, Buddhist news is too meager and lacks information, thus failing to attract widespread readership. Moreover, the publications lack diversity, preventing readers from having a wide range of choices. - The team of reporters is not yet truly "professional" and often avoids current events related to religion that involve ideology, viewpoints, and politics. Most writers are researchers with valuable scientific articles in this field, but when addressing these issues, they are hesitant or evasive. Meanwhile, journalists who actively "get involved" mostly lack specialized knowledge about religion, resulting in articles that are somewhat biased and lack depth. - Buddhist journalism also needs to accelerate the application of information technology modernization to bring Vietnamese Buddhist journalism closer to the Vietnamese community living abroad and promote the image of Buddhism and Vietnamese culture to international friends. 11. Practical application: This can be applied to the organization, publication, and distribution of Vietnamese Buddhist journalism in the coming years. 12. Further research directions: None 13. Published works related to the thesis: - Pham Minh Duc (2001, Class 38 - University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi), Graduation thesis in journalism: "The current situation of Catholicism in Vietnam in the newspapers Chinh Nghia and Nguoi Cong Giao Viet Nam" supervised by Professor Ha Minh Duc. - Tran Luu (2001, Class 38 - University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi), Graduation thesis in journalism: "Vietnamese journalism and the issue of belief and religion" supervised by Professor Do Quang Hung.

Summary of the findings of the thesis: In recent years, religion issues have been being top security issue in the world. Therefore, propagating and providing information about religion in general and Buddhism in particular are of very important function of press. With this acknowledgment, the thesis “Buddhism Press in Vietnamese– Practices and Problems” comes into existence. One outstanding feature of Buddhism Press is currently clarifying religious issues in social life, facilitating the objective and appropriate outlook about religion of persons who are interested in Buddhism. This class of press also promotes attitude and tradition of the nation, contributing in building the great unity of ethnics and religions. Besides, it contributes a significant part in encouraging and instructing for the development of national economy in accordance with national tradition and ethic. Buddhism is one of the major and long-standing religions in Vietnam, however Buddhism Press is still of small account in the Vietnamese Press community. Under consideration, the writer realizes that its major drawbacks are as follows: - The performance is simple and unattractive; the Buddhism news and information is insufficient; Therefore it is unable to attract the interest of the audience. Furthermore, the products are not diversified enough to offer various options for audience. - The correspondents are not really “professional” and tend to avoid religious events which involve political view and attitude. Most of the correspondents are professional in scientific value of the field but not willing or avoid reporting these issues. In the meantime, correspondents who are eager to “combat” but lack of specific knowledge results in the articles are unsatisfying and unthorough. - Buddhism Press also needs to apply modern information technology in order to approach Vietnamese oversea residents and broadcasting Buddhism images as well as Vietnamese culture to the world. 12.
