Summary of the thesis results: Regarding family structure: Compared to the period before 1986, the current transformation of family structure in Tam Son has really taken place. First of all, the family size has decreased from 4.75 people/family to 3.92 people/family; in which, the number of families with 5 people or less has increased, the number of families with 6 people or more has decreased quite sharply. The number of families with 2 generations has also increased, on the contrary, the number of families with 3 generations has decreased. The types of families in the current period are more numerous and more diverse, in which the type of family with few relationships (2 relationships or less) has increased, on the contrary, the type of family with many relationships (3 relationships or more) has a tendency to decrease. Regarding family functions: compared to before 1986, the demand for the number of children and the actual number of children born to each couple in Tam Son have both decreased; However, in the past 4 years, the trend of having many children has returned to the village. In addition, the economic function of the family has also changed, the family now plays a real role as a production unit, operating according to the law of supply and demand of the market; the number of occupations has increased, the purpose of production has changed towards selling to the market mainly. The socialization role of the family has changed but is still maintained. 11. Practical applicability: The research results provide more scientific arguments for managers, especially managers in Tam Son area in formulating policies and measures for rural development, including policies on marriage, on the role of households in preserving and promoting family values in the context of international economic integration in general, as well as integration between Tam Son and regions in Vietnam in particular. 12. Further research directions: Family transformation needs to be studied in many aspects, as well as the impacts of change on socio-economic life. However, within the framework of a master's thesis, many aspects of family transformation, including structure and function, have not been thoroughly studied. In addition, the thesis has only stopped at comparing the transformation in 2 stages (before Doi Moi and after Doi Moi with a radius of 25 years), while the previous stage has not been explored. Therefore, the author plans to develop the thesis further in the direction of: studying another historical period and analyzing more aspects of family transformation. 13. Economic functions of families have also changed, now the family is actually a production unit, but not the production units of traditional patriarchal, self-sufficient, but is an economic unit operating under the laws of economic market oriented; number of career increase and purpose of production transform from self – efficient to sell on the market. Further research directions, if any: The changes of family needs to be studied deeply in many aspects, including structure, function and impact of the changes to social and economic... However, in the framework of a graduate thesis, several aspects of family change are not studied. Besides that, the thesis also just compares the changes in two stages (before and after renovation with radius of 25 years), whereas before that period may be explored carefully. Therefore, the authors propose to continue to developt the thesis in two directions: one more stage to learn more and more aspects of family change. 14. Thesis-related publications: None
