The thesis has clarified the outstanding achievements of the New Economic Policy (NEP) and the National Development Policy (NDP) for the development of Malaysian society, especially poverty reduction and increasing economic growth. Malaysia is a multi-ethnic country. The deepest contradiction in Malaysian society is the contradiction between the indigenous people (Bumiputra in general and Malay in particular) and the immigrant people (Chinese, Indians). The Malaysian government has been successful in resolving ethnic conflicts through economic policies.
