Summary of thesis results: The thesis analyzed and evaluated the perceptions of Vietnamese adolescents aged 15-17 regarding gender equality and influencing factors. Qualitative and quantitative research results show: - The percentage of adolescents agreeing with the traditional division of labor model, although lower than other adult groups with similar views, is still high, indicating that a segment of today's adolescents still hold biased views on the roles and capabilities of women and men. - Regarding the decision-maker for economic matters in the family, a relatively high percentage of adolescents believe that both husband and wife should make the main decisions, but the difference between husband and wife remains significant. - Factors related to the personal and family characteristics of adolescents strongly influence their perceptions of gender equality. Gender inequality is more pronounced among rural adolescents, male adolescents, adolescents from lower income groups, and adolescents from families with low-educated parents. Meanwhile, adolescents from urban families, affluent/well-off families, families with highly educated parents, and families with a shared workload between spouses exhibit a more egalitarian perspective. In families with an equal distribution of tasks, from housework and elderly care to childcare and household business activities, adolescents hold a more equitable view, emphasizing the roles and power of both men and women. However, influenced by this unequal division of labor within the family, the gender-based division of household chores has inadvertently become ingrained in the thinking of many adolescents. - A father's education also significantly influences his children's perceptions of gender equality. This influence is particularly pronounced in groups where fathers have lower levels of education; these adolescents tend to have more conservative views compared to adolescents whose mothers have lower levels of education. This data highlights the important role of fathers in their children's understanding of gender equality. Therefore, gender equality education should not only focus on adolescents but also involve their parents. 11.
