The topic of this thesis is "Phonetic characteristics of the Quang Nam dialect based on survey data from the Hoi An area."
The thesis structure includes the following three chapters:
Chapter 1: Theoretical Foundations
Chapter 2: Some phonetic features in the Quang Nam dialect
Chapter 3: The Quang Nam Dialect and the Formation of the National Script
In Chapter 1, I wrote about the theoretical basis of phonology and phonetics related to the topic. Additionally, I described some information about Hoi An in terms of its geography and history.
Chapter 2 is the main content of this thesis. In Chapter 2, I describe the phonetic characteristics of the Quang Nam dialect regarding the system of initial consonants, medial consonants, vowels, final consonants, and tones.
In Chapter 3, I examine the process of forming the Vietnamese Quốc ngữ script and the role of the Quảng Nam dialect in that process.
11. Practical applications:
The Vietnamese dialect landscape is extremely diverse and rich; therefore, some dialects or vernaculars have not yet been specifically studied in terms of phonetics.
This topic may provide some audio recordings and a systematic observation of phonetics to contribute to the study of Vietnamese dialects.
12. Future research directions:
During my research, I discovered characteristics of phonetic change. From a comparative-historical perspective, describing its transformation through language contact both domestically and internationally, this represents a direction for further research.

This paper shows examples of phonological system and phonetic features of the Quang Nam dialect in Hoi An city, in the Central Vietnam. Using date from field recentwork, this paper describes the phonetic changes such as vowel changes, finals and tone changes.
