10. Summary of the thesis results:

- The shift in the perception of humanity in early-period novels such as "The Sorrow of War," "Beggar of the Past," and "Swallows Flying" stems from the need for renewal in post-war literature and art. This shift in the perception of humanity is clearly reflected in the change in the portrayal of a typical literary figure: the soldier.

- The image of the soldier is a unity of negative and positive aesthetic nuances: nobility and baseness, courage and cowardice, generosity and selfishness, animality and reason, etc. It is this contradiction between aesthetic nuances that highlights the simple, familiar beauty that always exists in the image of the soldier.

- The art of portraying soldiers in Vietnamese literature during the đổi mới (renovation) period shows clear innovations compared to pre-renovation literature, evident in the art of character development; artistic space and time; plot and structure; language and tone.

- The changes in the concept of humanity in literature during the early period of the đổi mới (renovation) era demonstrate a continuation of the traditions of previous periods and form the foundation for bold innovations in literature from the mid-1990s to the present.

10. Summary of the findings of the thesis:

Explaining the change in the conception of “man” insomespecified novels during the beginning of Innovation period such as “The Sorrow of the War”, “living off the past”, “Flying Swallow” stems from the demand of literary innovation – the Postwar art. It is likely that this change is clearly expressed throughout the portrayal of a typical image in literature - the image of Soldier.

The image of Soldier is a unified combination between both positive and negative aesthetic nuances: lofty and lowly, courage and cowardice, generosity and selfishness, bestiality and reason…Moreover, it is exactly the conflict between those aesthetic nuances that remarkably highlights the idyllic and intimate beauty that still exists in the image of Soldier.

The portrayal of Soldier image in Vietnamese literature has numerous changes in comparison between before and after the Innovation, which is illustrated in the art of character building, the space and the time of art, plot and structure, language and literary tone expressed.

Affirming the change in the conception of “man” in Vietnamese literature during the beginning of Innovation period has shown traditional continuations from the previous generations and has been the basis for various strong innovations in literature from the mid-90s until now.
