Summary of the results of the thesis: After conducting research on Hoan Kiem Lake (Hoan Kiem Lake) as well as the area around the lake from the 11th century to about the first 20 years of the 20th century, we have come to the following conclusions: - Hoan Kiem Lake and the area around Hoan Kiem Lake through the periods in the history of the Capital have changed in appearance, especially from the Le - Trinh period to about the first 20 years of the 20th century. Right from the Ly - Tran period, Hoan Kiem Lake left a cultural mark. During the Ly period, a Buddhist center was formed around Hoan Kiem Lake with the construction of Bao Thien Pagoda and Tower. During the Tran period, the activities taking place here were of a military nature. Hoan Kiem Lake and the lakeside area truly joined the urban structure of Thang Long - Hanoi during the Le - Trinh period along with the development of the "town" part in the east and southeast of the Citadel. During the Nguyen Dynasty, the Hoan Kiem Lake area became the cultural - educational center of Hanoi. In particular, Hoan Kiem Lake and the lakeside area gradually transformed into a truly Western-style urban area with the planning of French colonialists in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. - Hoan Kiem Lake has a great historical role and cultural value and is important in the thousand-year cultural value of Thang Long - Hanoi. Summary of the findings of the thesis: After researching on the history of Ho Guom lake (as known as Hoan Kiem lake) as well as its suburban areas from the ninth century to 20 years of the early twentieth century, we have some following conclusions: - Ho Guom lake and suburban areas in the period in the Capital historical process have the changes in appearance, particularly from the Le - Trinh period to the early 20 years of the twentieth century. Evenly, Hoan Kiem lake was an important cultural mark in the Li-Tran period. This famous lake became a the Li period's Buddhist center with Bao Thien temple and pagoda built around it. Whereas in the Tran period, this was the place occurring military activities. In the Le-Trinh period, Hoan Kiem lake and its suburban areas really joined the urban structure of Thanglong - Hanoi with the development of the "market" in the east and southeast of the capital city. This lake became a culture - education center during the Nguyen Dynasty. In particular, Hoan Kiem lake area was planned by French to become a truly West urban looking from the late nineteenth century to the early twentieth century. - Ho Guom lake has a great important role of history and culture of thousand-year Thang Long - Hanoi constitutional values. It and architectural Ngoc Son Temple, Turtle Tower create one of the Hanoi capital symbol. - Today, in the context of strong urbanization of Hanoi capital, we need to have right attitude and awareness of conservation, promotion, construction and renovation to Ho Guom lake with purpose that it will not lose its special position in Hanoi history and geography. 12.
