Summary of the results of the thesis: - In terms of theory: This thesis follows the direction of functional grammar - one of the priority grammar schools, interested in language in its functional activities, currently one of the central grammar trends of world linguistics. The results of the thesis will contribute to consolidating the correctness and explanatory and descriptive capacity of this grammar school. By applying modern grammar theory to specific examples in language communication activities, the thesis will also contribute to consolidating grammar theory or discovering new and different features in the rules of speech activities compared to the rules of language activities. Thus, this is the first step, the beginning of our research on speech grammar in the future. - In terms of practice: The study of Modal Adjectives is not a new point in Vietnamese linguistics. Linguists have called this element with different names such as: Modal Idiom, Modal Subject, Modal Adjunct... However, the new point of the thesis is to focus on clarifying this element in all 3 aspects: structure, semantics and pragmatics. Also in the process of survey and analysis, we found some cases that have the same modal content but different levels. Clarifying these differences also contributes to clarifying the operating principles of this element in sentences and in communication. At the same time, it helps researchers have a more comprehensive view of this element as a sentence element. 11. Practical applicability: The research results of the topic will also be helpful in compiling grammar textbooks for Vietnamese people and foreigners from a communicative perspective. 12. Published works related to the thesis: Graduation thesis: Initial survey of sentences with “thì” and “là” at the top in 3 aspects of Semantics and Pragmatics, was published in July 2008.

This is our first steps of researching grammar of speech afterwards. - Practical Achivements : Stative predicate research is not fresh news in Vietnamese linguistics. The experts call this object by various terms like: stative locution, or stative adverbial locution. However, this thesis is the first one to study the component in all three aspects: structure, semantics and function. During the process of investigation and analysis we have found out some situations with the same stative meaning at different levels. The explanation of this variety also contributes to further clarify the functional rules of this component in phrase and communication. This also helps the researchers to have a more comprehensive view of the stative predicate as component of a phrase. 12.
