Summary of thesis results: Injuries in Vietnam are a serious problem, mostly occurring among adolescents and working-age people, causing great harm not only to individuals and families but also to society as a whole. Therefore, minimizing injuries, their harmful effects, and fatalities is essential. To achieve this goal, enhancing the awareness and behavior of each citizen is of particular importance, and the most effective way to achieve this goal is to actively and effectively utilize various communication methods. Among the causes of injuries and their prevention, the main cause remains the subjective mindset and lack of concern for the issue. Surveys show that most families lack proactive awareness in preventing injuries, only paying attention to addressing the problem after an accident occurs. Some people are aware of traffic accidents but don't know how to prevent them, so they don't take preventative measures. Therefore, the key point of communication activities is to change people's awareness and unsafe behaviors while increasing their understanding of prevention measures, timely first aid, and post-accident recovery. This will foster a sense of safety and a habit of safety among individuals and the community. Surveys comparing the impact of communication through data before and after the communication show a positive impact on people's awareness and behavior regarding traffic accident prevention and first aid. Awareness of traffic accidents, prevention methods, and first aid after communication all showed high scores; people's awareness of traffic accident prevention and their knowledge and ability to provide first aid to victims were all enhanced. Communication methods such as television, radio, newspapers, neighborhood loudspeakers, bulletin boards, and through community communicators all have a positive impact on people's awareness and behavior. However, each communication method has its own advantages. Surveys and research show that interpersonal communication is the most effective, followed by communication through mass media (television, radio, newspapers, etc.), and finally, local communication systems such as neighborhood loudspeakers and bulletin boards. According to the WHO, injuries are not preventable. Experience shows that injuries can be prevented or at least controlled. Based on the research results, this thesis proposes several recommendations to make communication activities more effective and sustainable.

Summary of the findings of the thesis: Injury is a serious problem in Vietnam, mostly happens at teenagers and people at labor age. This causes serious consequences, not only for individuals, families but the whole society. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce injury cases and their damage. To achieve that aim, it is especially important to increase awareness and behaviors of the people and the most effective way is active use of communication media. Of all causes to injuries and injury prevention, the main one is subjective thinking of the people. After survey, most families are lacking of active awareness of injury prevention, they only care when accidents happen. Some people who are aware of the issue but did not know how to prevent and accordingly, they did not use prevention practices. Therefore, the most important issue of the communication is to change awareness, danger behaviors of the people and increase their awareness of prevention and first aid practices. So that they can form safe habits for themselves and community. The results of pre and post communication show the positive impact of communication to the awareness and behaviors of people towards issues of injury prevention and first aid. The post – communication awareness of injury prevention, first aid is at higher level, the people's knowledge and awareness has been increased. Communication media such as television, radio, newspapers, local speakers and bulletins, communication by local communicators... all have positive impact on people's awareness and behaviors. Each medium, however, has its own advantages. The research points out that the inter-personal communication is the most effective medium, followed by mass media (television, radio, newspapers) and finally is the local communication system like local speakers and bulletins. According to WHO, injury is preventable. Working experiences show that injury can be prevented or controlled. Based on research results, the thesis provides essential suggestions for communication activities to get effective and sustainable results.
