Summary of thesis results: The thesis topic "Perceptions of Ho Chi Minh City residents regarding the role of ASEAN in Vietnam" is structured into three parts, with results reflected in the following main contents: Chapter I: Vietnam and ASEAN Chapter 1 provides an overview of the relationship between Vietnam and ASEAN over different periods and the role of ASEAN in Vietnam's development since Vietnam became an official member in 1995. The role of ASEAN in Vietnam is analyzed specifically in three important areas: security-politics, economics, and culture. Chapter II: Perceptions of Ho Chi Minh City residents regarding the role of Vietnam In this chapter, we conducted a survey of the perceptions of Ho Chi Minh City residents, represented by a group of social science and humanities students, regarding the role of ASEAN in Vietnam's development. For the sake of comparison and evaluation in Chapter 3, we quantified students' perceptions based on a division into areas: security-politics, economics, and culture. Additionally, we surveyed the level of ASEAN's influence through students' perceptions of ASEAN and its impact. Chapter 3: The Role of ASEAN in Vietnam's Development. Chapter 3 focuses on reassessing the role of ASEAN in Vietnam's development as a member state, comparing the views of academics and students' perceptions on this topic. Furthermore, we explain the objective and subjective reasons for the differences in viewpoints between the two groups surveyed. From this, we propose feasible solutions to bring ASEAN closer to the people and to help them better understand ASEAN, contributing to building a strong and sustainable regional community. 11. Practical applications: A valuable reference document for policymakers and researchers. 12. Future research directions: Conduct a large-scale survey nationwide to draw more accurate conclusions and recommendations. 13. Published works related to the thesis: 1. Summary of the findings of the thesis: Chapter 1: Vietnam and ASEAN Chapter 1 is about Vietnam-ASEAN relations before Vietnam became the member of ASEAN in 1995. This chapter also discusses the role of ASEAN in Vietnam's development as one of its members. This role is analyzed in three key co-operation fields: security-politics, economics and culture. Chapter 2: Role of ASEAN in Vietnam's development: perceptions of people in Ho Chi Minh City In this chapter, we conducted a survey investigating perceptions of people in Ho Chi Minh City, the chosen target group is students studying social sciences and humanities, about the role of ASEAN in Vietnam's development. For the purpose of comparison, we also divide the perceptions of people living in Ho Chi Minh City into 3 key fields of perceptions. Moreover, we also investigate the influence of ASEAN and its impacts or ASEAN images in the perceptions of this group of students. Chapter 3: Role of ASEAN in Vietnam's development Chapter 3 focuses on re-evaluating, evaluating the role of ASEAN in Vietnam's development as its member state. The evaluation bases on comparing the perceptions of scholars and perceptions of students living in Ho Chi Minh City. Besides, we try to find out the objective and subjective causes which lead to the differences in the perceptions of these two groups. Thus, we propose possible solutions to bring ASEAN closer to its people, contributing to building a strong and sustainable community. 11. Practical applicability, if any: references 12.
