From there, develop appropriate solutions to support caregivers. That also indirectly promotes more effective treatment for patients.
Research has shown that most caregivers of HIV/AIDS patients have a basic understanding of the disease. The knowledge they gain is mainly provided by doctors and nurses during discussions about the patient. Caregivers play a very important role in helping patients with daily activities, supporting the patient's spirit and assisting doctors in monitoring the patient's condition.
Factors affecting the patient care process of caregivers are mainly: lack of knowledge about the disease and professional care skills; pressure on treatment costs and living expenses; mental stress; accommodation for caregivers. These factors are considered difficult for patient caregivers.
From there, caregivers have urgent needs and desires to be met as follows: Need to improve knowledge and understanding of cancer; need to improve care skills, psychological support, support for treatment costs, living expenses and accommodation. In addition, they have other needs such as: improving hospital facilities, increasing positive interactions between caregivers and hospital staff, providing more information about HIV/AIDS patient support networks.
The people who regularly support caregivers in patient care are mainly family members, in addition to the guidance of nurses, caregivers and doctors, and staff from the "for you, for me" group. There is absolutely no participation of Social Workers in supporting caregivers, because the hospital currently does not have this team.
