Through analysis of three filmsMemories of Murder, The HostandParasite(Parasite)Bong Joon-ho's filmmaking style, the thesis achieved the following results:
  1. Point out the characteristics of content, ideology and aesthetics in the works of filmmaker Bong Joon-ho; Identify the prominent ideology in this author's film style as anti-capitalist ideology, with a close combination of national and contemporary characteristics.
  2. Defining Director Bong Joon-ho's Cinematic Language: Tdeploying old techniques of staging, cinematography, editing and sound in a contradictory, contradictory way, creating a new language that is uniquely personal. The filmmaker's cinematic language is associated with ambiguity, contrast and exaggeration.These characteristics fit the genres that Bong Joon-ho often uses such as black comedy, thriller..
  3. Identifying genre mixing as a prominent stylistic signature in Bong Joon-ho's films.An examination of the content (semantics) and form (structure) planes of Bong Joon-ho's films shows a mixture of genres, with variations of traditional genres, creating a characteristic multi-genre, in which the outstanding factors areto suetragedy and comedy. The two genres that Bong Joon-ho combines the most with traditional genres are: Black Comedy and Thriller. This genre mix isfactors that bring success to Bong's works both commercially and in terms of artistic creation.
11. Practical applicability: The research results of the thesis will be a reference for introducing the achievements of Korean cinema in particular and Asian cinema in general - a gap in Vietnam in receiving the quintessence of world cinema.

  • Indicating the salient features - the content, ideology, and aesthetic, of the works of the filmmaker Bong Joon-ho. Identifying the ideology that stands out in his films is anti-capitalism ideology, with a strong combination of ethnicity and modernity.
  • Specifying the cinematic language of the director Bong Joon-ho: Using the traditional techniques in mise-en-scéne, camera movements, editing and sound in an opposite way, he created a whole new language for himself. The popular cinematic language of this filmmaker is duality, contrast, and exaggeration. These are the perfect means to support the genre Bong Joon-ho yearns for: Dark Comedy and Suspense.
  • Identifying that the crucial style of Bong Joon-ho is hybrid-genre. After studying the content (semantic) and form (structural) levels of Bong Joon-ho's films, we came to the conclusion that, with the variations of traditional genres, in Bong Joon-ho's works there is a characteristic called multi-genre, in which tragedy and comedy are the two outstanding elements. The two genres that Bong Joon-ho utilizes most often when combining them with the other conventional ones are: Dark Comedy and Suspense. Multi-genre is the factor that contributes to the success of Bong Joon-ho's works in both commercial and artistic aspects.

The research results of the thesis will serve as a guide for demonstrating the achievements of Korean cinema in particular and Asia in general, which is also what Vietnam is still short of in receiving the elite of the world cinema.
