Summary of thesis results: This thesis provides an overall description of local phonetic variants in Ba Vi district, and uses mapping techniques to locate their functional spatial positions within Ba Vi district. If the research achieves its intended objectives, it is hoped that the results can contribute to providing a complete phonetic description of the local phonetic variants of the Ba Vi dialect. We hope that the research results will highlight some of the differences in pronunciation between the Ba Vi dialect in particular and the Hanoi dialect in rural areas in general, compared to the Hanoi dialect in urban areas and standard Vietnamese. This will clarify the diversity of the linguistic and cultural landscape of Hanoi.
