The thesis has clarified the factors affecting China's relationship with South Korea by studying the levels of analysis in international relations theory: from the global, regional to the national and individual leaders of each country. Thereby, it also identifies and evaluates China's strategic interests in increasing relations with South Korea. Next, the thesis highlights China's adjustments and strategic calculations towards South Korea through the process of analyzing the current state of China's relationship with South Korea in each specific period from when the two countries officially established diplomatic relations in 1992 to 2015, in the fields of politics, economics, security - defense and culture - society. From there, the thesis has made assessments of the prospects and impacts of this relationship on each country, the East Asia region and Vietnam. At the same time, it makes some forecasts about the trend of cooperation in China - South Korea relations in the coming time.
