The way of eating and dressing can reflect the cultural context and national characteristics of each nation. The way of eating and dressing is closely related to people's lives, so there are many idioms and proverbs about the way of eating and dressing. The process of cultural, political and economic communication between China and Vietnam in history has made the daily eating and dressing of the Han and Vietnamese people have many similarities. However, because the two nations have different cultural traditions, their ways of thinking are also different. To analyze the similarities and differences in idioms and proverbs about the way of eating and dressing between China and Vietnam, we conducted a survey of two aspects: structural characteristics and semantic characteristics. In-depth research on the structure of Chinese and Vietnamese idioms, we divided the structure of Chinese idioms into 7 types, and the structure of Vietnamese idioms into 3 types. Chinese idioms include proverbs, end-words and commonly used words, so the structure of Chinese proverbs is a bit complicated and not the same. The structure of Vietnamese proverbs has a one-part structure, a two-part structure, a balanced structure, a skewed structure and a multi-part structure, in which the two-part structure is the most common. We also analyzed the ways of creating meaning of idioms and proverbs in Chinese and Vietnamese. We analyzed the structure, figurative meaning, literal meaning and rhetorical devices to learn about the way of creating meaning of idioms and proverbs in Chinese and Vietnamese. Idioms and proverbs have strong national cultural characteristics, expressing customs, social context and living conditions of the people.
