The innovation in the artistic concept of people has broken the tradition of clear divisions of good - bad; noble - base...; the individual replaces the community, viewed from many angles and dimensions. Characters in novels during the renovation period have different characteristics compared to the previous period: diverse and rich with many types of characters and personalities. This more clearly demonstrates the writers' ability to be sensitive in approaching and exploiting reality, while seeing that the reality of life is always chaotic and complicated. It shows a complete view of life through the pluralism of art. Novels of this period have built a number of types: degenerate characters, repentant characters, confessional characters, lonely characters, absurd characters. Through the appearance of these types of characters, we can draw some conclusions about the process of artistic innovation of novels. From the study of the world of characters in Vietnamese novels during the renovation period, we hope to be able to identify the innovation in the world of characters of contemporary novels in particular and renovation literature in general.
