Summary of the results of the thesis: Research on gender issues in spontaneous migration. The results show that in spontaneous migration, there has been more participation of women with the notion that whoever has the ability to earn money and find a job quickly will go to earn money. The reasons for migration of women and men are also different, but they all meet in the same purpose and motivation, which is poverty and the desire to escape poverty. There is a gender difference in the decision to leave home to work far away, in the direction that men are proactive and decide to migrate themselves more of their own. In the migrants' luggage, the role of the network of social relations is very important, most of the people who come to Hanoi to do business are helped by relatives living here. The study also found that, in addition to social relations and little help from the local government, spontaneous migrants receive almost no help from the Government. They even suffer from the prohibition policies of urban authorities and discrimination from urban residents. However, the rate of migrant workers overcoming difficulties and staying in Hanoi is increasing. Faced with this reality, the Party and the Government need to have appropriate rural development policies to retain farmers who have left the countryside as well as reduce the pressure on urban areas that are under a lot of pressure from these spontaneous migration flows. 11. Practical applicability: The study has shown the differences between women and men in the causes and decisions to migrate, in job search opportunities as well as access to social services... in the process of spontaneous migration. This information will be the basis for establishing migration policies to maximize the benefits that this migration flow brings as well as limit the consequences it causes. 12. Further research directions: None 13. Published works related to the thesis: Report on the ministerial topic "Adaptation of spontaneous migrants from rural areas to cities and surrounding areas. Summary of the findings of the thesis: This research aims to study the gender issues in informal migration. The results show that, the female has more participated in inormal migration because of an opinion that the one can earn money and quickly find job will be the one who go to earn money. The reason of informal migration is different in male and female but from the same goal and motivation, poverty and want to be out of poverty. There is a difference in terms of gender in deciding on leaving their native land to work in a far place. Male is active and self-decisive in his migration than female. For migrators, the social network is very important for them. Almost migrators worked in Hanoi have relatives that lived in Hanoi and helped them a lot. The results also show that, accepting the social network and a little bit support from the local authority, the migrators mostly do not have any support from the government, they even get troubles with forbidance policies from cities authority and discrimination of citizens. Dispite of challenges, the rate of migrators overcoming the challenges and still living in Hanoi is still more and more. Face to this fact, the government needs to develop a suitable rural development policy to keep the farmers stay with their farms and reduce informal presure for cities. 12. Practical applicability, if any: The research has shown the differences between male and female in reasons and decisions on migration, chances in approaching jobs and social services, etc. during the process of informal migration. Those results will be a foundation to develop migration policies which will maximize the benefits as well as minimize the corollary of that migration flow. 13.
