On the afternoon of October 3, 2024, representatives from the Oesol Foundation and SJ Tech Vietnam met with and awarded scholarships to students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
Accordingly, the SJ Tech Oesol 2024 scholarship was awarded to 9 students majoring in Korean Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, with each scholarship worth over 6 million VND per student. The scholarship recipients include 3 students with excellent academic achievements, 3 students from disadvantaged backgrounds who have strived to excel in their studies, and 3 students who are class officers with good academic performance and active participation in activities.
Associate Professor Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, delivered a speech at the scholarship awarding ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi, shared that VNU-USSH is proud to be the first university in Vietnam that not only trains but also researches Korean language and culture.
Each year, the Korean Studies Department, part of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, trains 60 students; the university's lecturers study and conduct research at many major universities in Korea and continue to instill in students a passion for learning and researching the language, culture, and history of "the Land of Kimchi." Scientists from VNU-USSH have participated in numerous research activities on Korea and published research papers on the culture and history of the country.
The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is also a training institution that receives many scholarships for students from Korean organizations and businesses, such as the KF-Samsung Foundation, Lotte Scholarships, etc., and has welcomed many high-ranking Korean leaders to visit.
This is the 10th time.

Congratulating the academic achievements of the 9 students who received the SJ Tech Oesol 2024 scholarship, Mr. Kim Don Soo - General Director of SJ Tech Vietnam - expressed his appreciation for the striving, intelligence, and diligence of the VNU-USSH students. The General Director of SJ Tech Vietnam hoped that the students would continue to spread positive values to other students, encouraging them to strive and achieve many academic successes. “I hope that in the years to come, I will witness the growth of the students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, contributing to strengthening the good relationship between Vietnam and Korea,” Mr. Kim Don Soo happily expressed.
Dr. Dinh Tien Hieu - Head of the Political and Student Affairs Department - announced the Decision on awarding SJ Tech and Oesol scholarships for 2024.
Hoang Do Thao Nhi, a student from the QH-2021-X cohort and an outstanding student in the Korean Studies department, was honored to receive the SJ Tech Oesol Scholarship 2024. She shared her deep gratitude to the university, the Oesol Foundation, and SJ Tech Vietnam. Thao Nhi stated that the SJ Tech Oesol scholarship not only provides financial support but is also a great source of encouragement, motivating students on their academic journey and in pursuing their dreams.

Over the years, the Oesol Foundation and SJ Tech Vietnam have had effective collaborative activities with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The Foundation has awarded numerous scholarships to students majoring in Korean Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies, over the past two years, helping them to better pursue their studies and their passion for researching Korean culture and language.
Previously, in April 2024, during a meeting with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, representatives from the Oesol Foundation and SJ Tech expressed their desire to continue signing agreements with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to provide more scholarships for VNU-USSH students. Accordingly, in 2024-2025, the Foundation will award 72 scholarships to outstanding Korean Studies students, students facing financial difficulties, and students with outstanding participation in student union activities, totaling 24 million won (approximately 430 million VND).
