10. Summary of project results:
This study presents an overview of depressive disorders, including a review of key research and epidemiological data from around the world and in Vietnam. Fundamental issues concerning this disorder, such as its concept, influencing risk factors, clinical characteristics, and diagnostic criteria according to the DSM-5, are addressed. Simultaneously, the study also discusses assessment and intervention methods, including cognitive behavioral therapy and relaxation techniques, to support clients exhibiting depressive disorders.
Intervention results showed that the client experienced a reduction in depressive symptoms, improved mood, challenged and replaced unhealthy and unhelpful beliefs, and practiced coping with stressful situations. Simultaneously, the client was able to apply stress identification and management skills, prevent recurrence of depression and other problems in their life, increase self-confidence, and strengthen social skills..
11. Practical applications:
Based on the results obtained through theoretical and practical research in clinical case intervention, this thesis has contributed further evidence to the effectiveness of the cognitive-behavioral approach in intervening in the symptoms of depressive disorders. At the same time, the limitations of this thesis also provide new practitioners with lessons to improve the effectiveness of future therapy.
