The thesis has contributed to clarifying some basic theoretical issues of preserving ancient and rare documents in Thua Thien - Hue Province such as clarifying the concept of ancient and rare documents; preserving ancient and rare documents; criteria for determining ancient and rare documents; stating criteria affecting the effectiveness of preservation activities; studying the current status of preserving ancient and rare documents in Thua Thien Hue Province, commenting on preserving ancient and rare documents. Based on theoretical research and practical surveys, the thesis has proposed some solutions to improve the effectiveness of preserving ancient and rare documents in Thua Thien Hue Province.

This thesis has contributed to clarify some basic theoretical issues of preservation of ancient and rare documents in Thua Thien Hue province such as clarifying the concept of ancient and rare documents, preserving them, finding the criteria to determine them, setting out criteria that affect the efficiency of preservation activities, researching the actual situation of preservation activities in Thua Thien Hue province, commenting on preserving these documents. On the basis of theoretical studies and actual surveys, the thesis has proposed some solutions to improve the efficiency of preserving ancient and rare documents in Thua Thien Hue Province.

Research results of this thesis can be applied in preserving ancient and rare documents at some Libraries in Thua Thien Hue province in the current period and the following years.
