NovelThe Sorrow of WarBao Ninh's work from a narrative perspective is studied from a number of aspects such as: the art of plot organization, structure, narrator, point of view, language, tone... Thereby, the thesis attempts to provide a more comprehensive approach to the work, helping readers get closer to the writer's artistic thoughts on the value of every peaceful moment we are living.

The thesis also pointed out the innovations and reforms of the novel; saw the author's contributions to the development process of Vietnamese Literature history in general and Vietnamese Literature after 1975 in particular. WithThe Sorrow of War, Bao Ninh tried to innovate novel thinking, finding a new direction in genre creation through changes in narrative methods.
