10. Summary of thesis results:
The thesis conducts a survey and compares the characteristics: Grammar and semantics of the group of adverbs indicating degrees in Vietnamese and equivalent expressions in English. In chapter 1, the thesis has researched and presented the theoretical basis for identifying the group of adverbs indicating degrees in Vietnamese and equivalent expressions in English. Chapter 2 of the thesis has compared the grammatical characteristics of the group of adverbs indicating degrees in Vietnamese with equivalent expressions in English and pointed out that: adverbs indicating degrees in Vietnamese when translated into English have differences in the means of expressing the meaning of degrees, Vietnamese uses adverbs to indicate degrees while English uses other means at the word level and above the word level including: Adverbs, adjectives, grammatical structures of words to express equivalent meanings of degrees. In Vietnamese, adverbs combine before or after the verb to add a degree of meaning to the word, while in English translation, adverbs can also come before adjectives, before or after verbs. However, equivalent expressions at the supra-word level (grammatical structures of words) appear more frequently than equivalent expressions at the word level (adverbs, adjectives). In chapter 3, the thesis has surveyed and compared the semantic characteristics of the group of adverbs indicating degrees in Vietnamese with equivalent expressions in English and the results show that the equivalent expressions in the English translation have similarities in expressive nuances with adverbs indicating degrees in Vietnamese but have differences in the meaning of the level expressed. There are cases where adverbs indicating medium degrees can express high and extreme meanings, and there are cases where adverbs indicating high degrees can express medium and extreme meanings. Adverbs indicating degrees in Vietnamese when translated into English translations in many cases no longer retain the original meaning, however, the expressive nuances do not change.

The thesis has carried out survey on the: Grammatical and semantic characteristics of Vietnamese degree words and equivalent expressions in English then compared them with each other. In chapter one, the thesis researched and presented the theoretical basis on the Vietnamese degree words and equivalent expressions in English to get their identification. In chapter two, the thesis compares the grammatical characteristics of Vietnamese degree words and equivalent expressions in English and indicates that: There were differences in the means of expressing Vietnamese degree words and their English equivalences in survey translations, Vietnamese uses degree words to indicate degree, while English uses not only means of word but also above - word level including: Adverbs, adjectives, and grammatical structures of words to express equivalent degree meanings. In Vietnamese, the degree words were placed before or after real words to add degree meaning to the words, while in English adverbs could also be placed before adjectives, before or after verbs, however, equivalent expressions of the above - word level (grammatical structures of words) appear more often than equivalent expressions of the word level (adverbs, adjectives). In chapter three, the thesis carried out the survey and compared the semantic characteristics of Vietnamese degree words and equivalent expressions in English, the result indicates that: The equivalent expressions in the English translations had similarities of expressing nuances with Vietnamese degree words, but there were differences in the degree meanings, there were cases of medium degree words indicating high and superlative degree meanings, and there were cases of high degree words indicating medium and superlative degree meanings. In many cases, Vietnamese degree words translated into English can no longer retain their original meanings, but the expressive nuance remains unchanged.
