10. Summary of thesis results:
The first era of Vietnamese written literature (from the beginning of the 10th century to the end of the 19th century) made a tremendous contribution to fostering noble qualities and creative spirit, elevating the nation's stature in international relations. The patriotic spirit and the strength of unity in classical literature contributed significantly to glorious victories, maintaining independence, especially in diplomatic relations with China. Today, medieval poetry and literature continue to promote the value of nurturing thought, feelings, and consciousness for generations of Vietnamese people. Therefore, a competency-based approach in teaching Vietnamese medieval literature is a way for us to educate a sense of connection to our national cultural roots while opening up new horizons of knowledge for young people in today's society.
Evaluating the selection of Vietnamese medieval literary authors and works in high school textbooks since the reform period, this thesis contributes to affirming the achievements and highlighting some shortcomings of the Vietnamese medieval literature curriculum in the Literature textbooks. Based on this, it offers observations (albeit subjective) on the medieval literature section in the Literature curriculum since the reform period: the principles of curriculum development from lower secondary to upper secondary school; and the selection methods that reflect the viewpoints of the curriculum drafting committee.
Besides contributing to the innovation of teaching methods and improving the effectiveness of teaching Vietnamese medieval literature in particular and Literature in general in the current Literature curriculum reform to suit the teaching trends of the times, this thesis can serve as a reference material for high school teachers, especially in guiding the effective teaching of medieval literary works in the new 2018 Literature curriculum.
Compared to the 2000 and 2006 curricula, the 2018 General Education Program for Literature has many new features. Specifically, it innovates the teaching methods of Literature towards a student-centered approach, with teachers applying teaching techniques to develop students' qualities and abilities. This helps students respect differences and achieve independence of thought. Furthermore, the program simultaneously emphasizes reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. Overall, teachers highly appreciate the speaking and listening activities incorporated into the three new textbooks.

10. Summary of the findings of the thesis:
The first era of the Vietnamese Literature program (from the early 10th century to the end of the 19th century) made an immense contribution towards fostering noble qualities and creativity and raising the status of our country in international relations. Patriotism and solidarity in historical literature have significantly contributed to the country's glorious victories and independence maintenance, especially in relations with China. At present, Vietnamese Medieval Literature is continuing to foster thought, emotion, and consciousness within many Vietnamese generations. Hence, competency-based orientation in teaching Vietnamese Medieval Literature is how we educate the youth to be engaged to their origin, culture, and nation while broadening their new knowledge horizon.
By assessing the selection of Vietnamese Medieval works and authors in the textbook used in general education since Doi Moi, this thesis aims to notice the achievements and identify the drawbacks of the Vietnamese Medieval Literature program in Literature textbooks. From this, comments (despite its objectiveness) about the Vietnamese Medieval Literature part in Literature programs since Doi Moi are elicited including principles for developing education programs from lower secondary to high school; the selection method which demonstrates the opinions of textbooks' authors.
Besides contributing to innovative methods and improving the effectiveness of teaching Vietnamese Medieval Literature in particular and Literature in general, in the innovation process of the current Literature program to meet the modern teaching direction, this thesis can be a reference for high school teachers, particularly in orienting effective teaching of Vietnamese Medieval Literature in the 2018 New Literature program.
Compared to the 2000 and 2006 programs, the 2018 general education program for Literature presents many new points. To be more specific, Literature teaching methods are innovated in a student-centered orientation, in which teachers apply teaching techniques to develop students' qualities and abilities, thereby helping students appreciate differences and acquire independent thinking skills. Furthermore, the program also focuses on improving Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening skills. In general, teachers Positively evaluate Speaking and Listening activities appear in the three new series of textbooks used in general education.
