Trên cơ sở phân tích, luận giải cơ sở hình thành, những nội dung cơ bản cùng giá trị chủ yếu của tư tưởng Hồ Chí Minh về quốc phòng, luận văn đã làm sâu sắc thêm sự vận dụng tư tưởng Hồ Chí Minh về quốc phòng của Đảng Cộng sản Việt Nam trong tình hình mới với những đặc điểm của quốc phòng Việt Nam trong lịch sử và hiện nay.
Ngoài ra, trên cơ sở bối cảnh trong nước và quốc tế đương đại cùng những vấn đề đặt ra trong việc vận dụng tư tưởng Hồ Chí Minh về quốc phòng, luận văn bước đầu đề xuất một số kiến nghị mang tính giải pháp cho an ninh và quốc phòng Việt Nam hiện nay theo tư tưởng Hồ Chí Minh.
