10. Summary of the thesis results:Buddhist literature in general, and Buddhist poetry in particular, is an important part contributing to the richness of Vietnamese literature during the medieval period. While there have been studies on this topic, there have been no direct studies of anthologies of poetry by numerous authors from various dynasties, reflecting the poetic landscape of each period. This thesis chooses to study the Buddhist poetry in the Viet Am Thi Tap and Toan Viet Thi Luc, two of the most significant and substantial anthologies of Chinese poetry in the history of Vietnamese anthology. One was created in the first half of the 15th century, laying the foundation; the other, created in the 18th century, is considered a comprehensive collection. Both are of national significance, official in nature, and were licensed for publication by the imperial court.
The thesis results are as follows:
- Based on a survey and a general description of the texts in the two examination sets, this thesis identifies the foundational texts as the main research data for the topic.
- The process involves defining criteria for Buddhist poetry, then compiling a list of Buddhist authors and poems, and conducting a comparison to understand the inheritance, continuity, development, and position of Buddhist poetry through each period as shown in the two poetry anthologies.
- Statistical analysis will clarify the characteristics of author types and genres of Buddhist poetry in the two anthologies.
- This study analyzes, categorizes, and comments on the thematic system of Buddhist poetry in the two anthologies.
- The research findings of this thesis are surveyed, analyzed, and derived from primary sources, namely two collections of classical Chinese poetry, clarifying the position and characteristics of Buddhist poetry in relation to classical Vietnamese poetry in general, collected over different periods. These studies have affirmed the evolution in poetic thought and the position of Buddhist poetry in relation to Vietnamese poetry.
11. Practical applications:It provides authentic data, contributing to the study of Buddhist poetry written in Chinese characters in particular, as well as to the study of Buddhist literature in general, serving the teaching and research of Vietnamese classical Chinese literature, Vietnamese literature, and Buddhism.
12. Future research directions:The topic could be upgraded and further developed on a broader scale, exploring anthologies from different periods to compare and identify the position and characteristics of Buddhist poetry in each period and each type of anthology within the history of Vietnamese classical Chinese poetry.

10. Summary of the findings of the thesis:Buddhist literature, in general, and Buddhist poetry, in particular, constitute an essential component contributing to the richness of medieval Vietnamese literature. There are many studies on this issue, but there has been no research on the anthologies that collect poems from many authors and dynasties, reflecting the poetic appearance of each period. The thesis studies Buddhist poetry in Collected Poems in the Vietnamese Language and Anthology of Vietnamese Poetry, the two most extensive and significant collections of Chinese-character poetry in the history of Chinese-character poetry in Vietnam. One collection appeared in the first half of the 15th century, giving the initial foundation, while the other was published in the 18th century, representing a great compilation. Both collections were considered national anthologies and sanctioned and promulgated by the royal court.
The findings of the thesis:
- Based on the survey and general description of the texts of the two anthologies, the thesis identifies the background texts that will serve as the primary research data for the topic.
- Establishing the criteria for Buddhist poetry, compiling statistics, creating a list of Buddhist authors and works, and comparing them to understand the inheritance, development, and position of Buddhist poetry in each period shown in the two anthologies.
- Compiling and analyzing to clarify the characteristics of types of writers and genres of Buddhist poetry in the two collections.
- Compiling, categorizing, and commenting on the system of themes in Buddhist poetry in the two collections.
- The findings of this thesis are surveyed and analyzed from the source materials of the two Chinese-character poetry collections, clarifying the position and features of Buddhist poetry regarding Dai Viet's Chinese-character poetry collected through different periods. These studies have affirmed the evolution of poetic thought and the significance of Buddhist poetry in Dai Viet's poetry and literature.
11. Practical applicability:Providing authentic data, contributing to the study of Chinese-character Buddhist poetry in particular and Buddhist literature in general, serving the teaching and research of Vietnamese Chinese-character literature, Vietnamese literature, and Buddhology.
12. Further research directions:The topic can be expanded and continued to be researched on a larger scale with anthologies in other periods to be able to compare and understand the position and characteristics of Buddhist poetry in each era and each type of anthology in the history of Vietnamese Chinese-character anthologies.
