11. Summary of the thesis results:
Women living with HIV/AIDS is a significant issue in Thai Nguyen province today. These women face numerous difficulties in life, particularly psychological ones. They urgently need support to overcome these challenges and thrive. Based on this reality, my research focuses on counseling activities for women living with HIV/AIDS at the Dai Tu District Social Welfare Center in Thai Nguyen. The aim is to assess the current state of support for these women through various counseling methods. From this, I will offer recommendations on using counseling as a crucial tool to better assist women living with HIV/AIDS, while also contributing to the development of social work in Vietnam.
This study aims to assess the current state of counseling activities for women living with HIV/AIDS in the HHD Dai Tu - Thai Nguyen group through theoretical studies on counseling activities (client-centered theory, cognitive-behavioral theory) and counseling activities with specific target groups in social work.
The results of a study on counseling activities for women infected with HIV/AIDS in the HHD Dai Tu - Thai Nguyen group show that:
Women living with HIV/AIDS face numerous challenges in life related to health, finances, employment, communication, childcare and education, and especially psychological difficulties. They address these challenges in various ways, but have increasingly sought help from professionals and counseling centers rather than relying on friends and acquaintances.Family members often give up and let things go. Although they seek counseling for various reasons and with different desires, most believe that counseling is necessary.
The research findings reflect the current state of counseling for women living with HIV/AIDS in the Dai Tu - Thai Nguyen group. This includes limited facilities, a workforce largely lacking formal training, and a mix of other roles resulting in less time for counseling. Counseling methods are not diverse, primarily focusing on individual and telephone counseling. Group and family counseling are beginning to be developed and have initially yielded positive results, receiving high praise from the women living with HIV/AIDS. While the quality of counseling is not yet fully effective due to various subjective and objective factors, it has partially met the psychological needs and supported clients in resolving some difficulties they cannot overcome on their own.
Based on the above findings, the study indicated the level of achievement for each aspect, thereby making recommendations to improve the quality of counseling for women living with HIV/AIDS in the HHD Dai Tu - Thai Nguyen group.
12. Practical applications:
The results of this study provide counselors, leaders, and management agencies with a comprehensive understanding of counseling activities for women living with HIV/AIDS. This will enable the development of appropriate measures, policies, and mechanisms to improve and enhance the quality of counseling for women living with HIV/AIDS in the HHD group in particular and Thai Nguyen in general. The study will also serve as a theoretical basis for specific counseling interventions targeting women living with HIV/AIDS.
