10. Summary of the thesis results:

In researching this topic, we aim for the following objectives:

– Firstly, the thesis is based on scientific research methods such as poetics, socio-historical methods, statistical methods, typological methods… (especially poetics) to study and deeply evaluate the author's innovations and creative aspects in the artistic features of the work. The use of memories and dreams as a technique to construct the plot, characters, artistic space, artistic time, and point of view is a distinctive feature of Bao Ninh's style.

Secondly, besides the author's unique artistic creativity, within the context of the general development of the Vietnamese novel genre after the Doi Moi (Renovation) period, the thesis recognizes the significant contribution of using the form of memories and dreams to express the content of the work in the trend of modern Vietnamese novel innovation. In the work, memories and dreams act as a thread connecting all the events of the plot, characters, space, and non-linear time, serving as a framework for the author to develop the experiences of the characters and show the author's perspective and evaluation of the war against America.

– Thirdly, by exploring the author's perspective and evaluation of the nation's past war and the artistic forms employed, this thesis aims to affirm the role of studying the work from a poetics perspective, helping readers gain a more thorough understanding of the work.

This thesis serves as a supplement and further introduction to a work that has already received much controversial and debated feedback, offering readers a new perspective on the work from all angles. The work is a tribute from the author to the sincere and moving portrayal of the soldiers' lives during and after the war; it also serves as a small artistic reference for readers interested in understanding the work. Given the limitations of this topic, I hope for your acceptance and feedback on this thesis and on the specific issues I am focusing on.

When researching this topic, we aim to the following targets:

- First, the thesis is based on the scientific research methods such as poetic method, method of history - society, statistical method, type method ... (especially poetic method) to study and evaluate deeply the creations, innovations by the author in the art work. The use of reminiscence and dream as a method in order to build the storyline, characters, art space, art time, the point of view is a special character with the style of Bao Ninh.

- Second, next to the artistic creation of idiosyncratic author, then put in the general motion flow of the Vietnamese novels after renovation, the thesis finds the contribution of the use of method of reminiscences and dreams to manifest the content of the work in the trend of modern novel innovation of Vietnam is not small. In the work, reminiscences and dreams are like a thread strung through all the events of the storyline, characters, space, time non-linear, is the framework for the author to deploy the experiences of the characters and shows how to recognize, assess of the author about the anti-US war.

- Third, learning how to recognize, assess by the author about the war happened of the nation and with the art forms, the thesis affirms the role of understanding the work according to trending poetics to help readers have better insight into the work.

Performance of this topic is a complement, an introduction for a work which has been a lot of mixed comments causing "uproar", giving readers a new approach about the work on all aspects. The work is a tribute of the writer to the author brought the sincere sentences on the soldiers' status during and after the war; at the same time it is a small reference in art for readers who want to learn about the work.
