The thesis focuses on research and gives some basic results as follows:

In Chapter 1, the author focuses on researching and clarifying the concepts of "foreign information" and "electronic newspapers"; systematizing information about the event of China illegally placing the Haiyang 981 drilling rig in Vietnam's exclusive economic zone and continental shelf; clarifying the views of our Party and State on foreign information in general and the "Haiyang 981 drilling rig" event in particular; analyzing the role of foreign electronic newspapers in English in the "Haiyang 981 drilling rig" event; introducing 04 electronic newspapers in the survey including: Nhan Dan e-newspaper, Thanh Nien online of Vietnam and Hoan Cau Times, China Daily of China.

In chapter 2, the thesis delves into the survey, analysis, comparison and evaluation of the content, form and volume of news articles about the "Haiyang 981 drilling rig" event published in the foreign electronic newspapers in English of Vietnam and China, thereby seeing the similarities in journalism, and at the same time clearly seeing the differences in viewpoints, approaches and foreign propaganda goals of the two countries.
